Well, i ******* hate hatchbacks. I apologize. That's why i created the thread.

I've taken down measurements of back windows when i'm bored and just so happen to remember i want to do this but haven't gone further than that.... I'm caught up in trying to dial my car in mechanically. Bleh....i'll get on it eventually.

I like sport hatchbacks like the rx7's. You can put crap back there.

If the hood and stuff was flat and didn't slope down as much I think it would work better.

i got measurements off my buddies s13 coupe and its about the right size to make it work but it looks like i might end up starting out with a reg fc shell instead of my vert. its a immobile shell and it will save me time in fab work plus i dd my vert. the shell im using im also putting a cage in and stitch welding it all at once for track use. the s13 window was just for curiosity and it probably wont end up being the best fit so ill have to scout for a better fit.

S13 Coupe Back window would be the one... it fits almost perfectly on a coupe (ive messed with attempting this when i did the rear tube chassis on my drift car) starting with a coupe is the easiest way.

anyone who has cut up an FC before knows why. the rear is much easier to cut apart, and install a vert FC trunk than to weld a roof onto a car... thinner metal. less supports. dont have to do much honestly...

someone do this already

oh hey it's joel. lol. S13 coupe window will be the one. do it. i had one on the back of my parts car sitting. it's way close. i'm sure there's something better, maybe, but either way tons of body work is going to be needed and when i was checking it out it didnt seem bad at all.

a trunk is better when you have to carry a full size jack around or a tool box in the event of an accident. having an open compartment is asking for getting knocked out...

not to mention a trunk is easier to firewall for a fuel cell in racing applications.

If I ever have enough cash or a good grow op I'd love to do this, I've thought about it a lot and the only sensible thing to me is to combine 3 different cars. You need a coupe for the bulk of it, you cut if off behind the sunroof and below the hatch.

Then you take the trunk section from a vert and graft it in to fill most of the space using the brace at the front of the trunk for strength. That leaves you with a good sized window area left.

If the S13 is a good fit that will work, you cut out a good chunk of roof, through the pillars and along the edge of the trunk lid, lay it in your hole, do a final trim and fab up whatever little pieces you need to blend it in nice. Should look awesome.

Using just a vert or just a coupe will give you a crappy result imo

If you have to carry a full size jack around with you every day... Your car must be a...

Weld a filler tube to your fuel cell. Problem solved for both cases.

change of plans again. ill be keeping the hatch frame just removing the big glass. ill put the different window in the hatch frame and sheet metal the rest flat so when you pop the hatch the trunk and rear window both go up like original saving me a lot of time and still having cool functionality. i might end up making more than one version too.
