photoshop request. Coupe out an fc hatch.

Put a trunk on it and some rear glass......

Livin sidewayz has his hatch cover, angry earl has his truck-o-saur, i want a trunk and some glass grafted to my ****.

I love how s13 coupes look and thought to myself "an fc would look **** with a similar body style"

I was going to cut an fc in half and make a trailer (for drift spares and whatnot) out of it but i couldn't keep my other fc......stupid town ordinance. Now i have to do something else out of the norm. I haz fab skillz to do the job BUT i'm not going to do it if it's going to look like crap.

Photoshop away.

Hypertek, down for it?

99% of the forum is going to say "dont do it".

Stay in your box. I like to think outside of it.

I have zero photo shop skill. But the conv. with the top up should give you a pretty decent idea of what you're gonna get. I think it would look fantastic.

There's also that Wisesport hatch replacement.. Though I've never seen one, other than from their website a couple years back.

wow that would look pretty flippin sweet.. Could be done if you have the $$$ to have someone make a rear window for you.

I always thought a wagon conversion would be easy and if done right could look cool... There was a FD wagon tuner car like over 10 years ago.

Jeez, that Garage7 hatch looks like it would absolutely kill your rear peripheral vision...which ain't all that great to begin with.

I think it's going to look very similar to a Vert with the top up, so it could look really nice.

pic stolen from shika805, cause his car looks amazing

If you can do it, I say go for it. But if I were going to do it, I would start with a Vert and put a roof on it instead of trying to cut the Hatch. You might even be able to use the Vert rear glass and roof frame to layout the sheetmetal for the new roof.

I agree with starting out with a vert. That way, you already have the trunk lid there, rather than having to deal with the gaping hole that will be there once you get rid of the hatch.

maybe you should measure up a S13 rear window and see what if would take to make a new hatch to hold the rear glass with an intergrated trunk space.

heres a 2 min shop of the picture above..after redoing the lines it looked like a b-pillar off a R32 and looked weird..so i added a carbon rear window insert. Hypertek might have some other ideas as well. But like everyone else says the vert is a better candidate for making a coupe sorta rx7.

That looks ideal..keeping the FC's giant B pillar looks good.

I've always thought a coupe FC would be pretty sick. I think If you could get a trunk from a vert and the surrounding metal you could make a hatch FC a trunk/coupe car pretty easy with an s13 rear glass.

Nope. Rather not buy ANOTHER FC.

If i do get another car it IS going to be an s13 coupe. Lol. With that being said, i'm not trying to make my fc look like one.

ON the fc's, i just dont like how far back the hatch extends and i think on the vert, it's not enough and that's way to much work on a vert to make it hard top.....

It's better to start with a hardtop. Easier to make a trunk, add some more frame, rivet in sheet metal for the passenger compartment (rubber gasket to seal out the weather) and add a window. 1x1 square tubing and some 1/16" sheet metal would be PERFECT.

If anyone can visualize this and apply it to an FC hatch.....not a vert. Get on it. I want to see what you guys can come up with.

South side slider practically hit the nail on the head. That looks sweet. Would like to see it on a larger scale!

Hmm.

You know, i had a thought. It would be much EASIER to mod the hatch (long flat sheet metal area and then BAM, glass) itself than try to screw with the body. I'd rather **** up a hatch skeleton than my actual car and this way downtime on my car itself would be minimal.

I had a spare hatch but it's long gone now. I'm sure another will be very easy to source though.

Hell yeah!

I'll have someone get me some dimensions for some s13 coupe glass.

See if we can make this happen.

I should have measurments within 12 hours. If it's not raining, i'll take hatch measurments from the inside to see what i'm working with.

If all else fails, i can get lexan cut to whatever size i need no problem. Well, time is the only problem.

Ok. After much sitting, thinking, sketching.....

The ONLY way to do this and make it look good is to find or make shorter hatch glass.

It has to be bubbled like a stock hatch or it fails.

So, b/c that's too much of a pain, i'm scraping the idea. It was worth a shot.

South side slider wins the cookie.

1st for posting win, even if it was pixel car
2nd for realizing it's going to take more effort than i'm willing to put in....
