New RX7 user with a question

Hey everyone im new to the rotary family....from my first drive i loved it... but i always see arguments about the oil..... My car needs a lot of work and seeming as i just started working ill have the flexibility to start the work( thats another story)

i have a stock 87 Turbo II, and since i plan on changing all the fluids, as far as Brake and oil (mainly Oil) after my oil change which oil should i go with... Ive seen the talk on Idemitsu and i ve even seen others on castrol and Mobil 1.... Opinions?

Also my car cannot maintain an idle, i read on another thread but couldnt really pull a answer from it....

There is also a new member technical section were new owners can find answers to common problems.

As far as your lack of idle, does it idle once warmed up, or does it never idle regardless of temp?

By cold start system are you referring to the sub zero start assist or the accelerated warm up system? The former injected antifreeze into the intake and the latter just holds a high idle to light off the catalytic converters quicker for reduced emissions.

The sub zero assist was junk and I believe there was a TSB on it. Most people defeat the AWS by starting the car in gear. Revving a dead engine to 3000 RPM isn't on most of our wish lists.

Well yeah, because if i turn it on... it will start idle and cut off.... however if i turn it on.. and rev it to 3k and hold for 2 3 seconds it will stay on warm up and idle like a champ...think its possibly just a battery or alternator issue? something biggeR??

I had the same issue with my 88 GTU and it was the AWS acting up.
