New Member with a question 'bout US FC's

Hey Guys,

I'm a new member, and as the title says: I have a question. I live in the Netherlands, and over here (and Germany) many of the affordable S5 TII FCs are convertables. It looks like in general in Germany the coupes are almost twice as expensive than the TII convertables. Today when I was looking I saw a TII S5 with 236.000 KMs for 7K Euros! Way to expensive in my oppinion!

Now here come's the real reason of this topic: In a few months I will be visiting the US, and I'm starting to concider to take a FC back home. What I'm wondering though is whether S5 TIIs I see for sale online for prices like 3k-4k USD are decent? Or are they usualy realy fucked up? If so: from what price range do decent S5 TIIs start? I know importing and shipping will cost anothr 2k Euro, but with the Dollar not being worth much at the mo. I though it might be a good deal to get a USDM one. This question is strictly for S5 BTW.

I hope someone will be so kind to help me,

Riz.

HOLLAND! goei volk...

first off, if you buy a FC from another country, you have to add about 1500 euros for getting your licence plates and everything to run legal here. so usually, if you add everything together, you will pay as much as you would buying one over here...

most of the S5 TII coupe's over here are priced around 4-5k. i paid 8k for mine 3 years ago, which was way more then all the others.
but it had just been completely rebuild and dont ever regret the choice i made that day! have you informed on the dutch RX-7 forum? they usually know some nice occasions...

Hey, a reply by the "FC Legend of Holland" himself! Yeah, I know importing is pretty pricey, however with the right contacts for shipping and all the whole process (including kenteken) could be done with 2k to 2.5k EUR.

At the moment I can't realy find any decent S5 TIIs under 5k, but that just might be me? I'm looking for a car in great shape, but with an engine that needs to be rebuilt. I realy wanna do a rebuilt myself out of interest in the rotaries, and want a fresh engine before I start improving/upgrading anything else.

The Dutch forum seems boring, not a lot of activity...

I just though that when I was in the US anyway, I could check out some FC's maybe, 'cause there will surely be more to choose from then over here, know what I mean? Mate of mine is importing a Hachi-Roku from the US, so I'll see how that goes, and what's it gonna cost first. First I need to finish and sell my current car though, and to have some extra money wouldn't hurt either. I wanna achieve my goal of purchasing a FC in '08, but it's not easy as a full-time student living on his own here in the Netherlands...

Thanks for the replies guys, and if anyone has some more info: feel free to post,

Riz.
