My new TOY!!!

Just picked up an old buddies 87 NA. I have wanted the car for about 4 years now since I have known him. He used to work at Rotorsports right next to my smog shop so everything done to it was done by either him or Paul who is the owner and 30+ year rotary mechanic.

This makes my 5th FC

Best part is I got the car for only $1000. Enjoy!

1. Racing beat header
2. Racing beat/rsr exhaust
3. Racing beat flywheel and act press plate
4. Racing beat plug wires
5. T2 fuel inj
6. New koyo alum rad with E-fan
7. Rear camber adj racing beat
8. Rear toe elem racing beat
9. Racing beat springs
10. Mazda motorsports arm bushing front
11. Racing beat front and rear sawy bars
12. Jic magic carbon fiber front strut bar
13. Earls steel brake lines, cross and slotted rotors and portorfield pads f&r
14. 4:30 with lsd rear end from a gtu-s
15. Expensive wheel spacers
16. Performance lug nuts
17. Tokico blue shocks
18. RE Ameyia gauge cluster
19. All emissions removed 6 ports wired open (still has plenty of low end from the flywheel and rear end)
20. S5 power mirrors that work

Interior is almost perfect minus a screwed up drivers seat, and everything works!

Anyways the car will have an S5 TII in it in a couple of weeks.

Look at the gauge cluster!!! It goes to 10k RPM

Score! New RX7's are so much fun. I can't wait to start building up my N/A now. I love working on my cars when it ISN'T essential.

Badass gauge cluster . I say you build a motor to take advantage of every one of those 10000 rpm .

Nice funk. I almost bought one of those clusters a few years ago. I've regretted it since.

Looks good. I find it ironic that you work at a smog shop but you have all emissions removed.

Thanks for all the good feedback!!

I would love to build an engine to take advantage of the 10k RPM... bur frankly that would be just too much money. I have enough money to swap in an S5 TII and that is about it.

Now for the bad:
Heater core leaks, thus I keep it off the heat setting to prevent that.
Transmission is on its way out.
Transmission shift bushings are shot.
Drivers side seat is pretty bad.
Little paint and body dings here and there.
Speedometer doesn't work.
Oil cooler lines are leaking a little.
Center compartment has a crack in it that makes it a little loose.
Carpet has fade spots... some spots are greenish not red.
Tires suck, especially in the rain.

Goodies going to Damzil:

Flywheel, headers, maybe exhaust, clutch, pressure plate, tranny (will be rebuilt by Paul of Rotorsports), and wheels. That's all I can think of for now.

Mike, your new toy looks exactly like my first RX-7...gold exterior, maroon/red interior...except for a bondo patch on the rear driver quarter panel and smacked passenger fender.

Talking

I ended up junking it back in '08. The coolant seals were starting to go out when I got it in '04 and a botched coolant flush in late '05 led to it finally blowing in '06. Upper rad hose exploded on the way to Daly City. Parked it in hopes of fixing it, but ended up getting my current red one.

I think I've got the bins, and if you want 'em, you can have em. It's spring cleaning time for the parts shed. D:

Yep, they're red. A bit scratched up, and one has a missing hinge pin, but yep...red. No red seat though.

Going to get the swap done before the next meet?
