my FC3s - quarter pull, big wheels, shine kit and paint comin!!

heres my LS1 FC3s. simple build 380 WHP. small cam with bolt ons.

Paint work was done by

almaden collision & kenny auto Inc. in san jose.

a san jose company thats worked pretty well with me.

They did the quarter panel pull and reshaped and fixed up all the mini dings and dents on my car. I believe in a weeks time they will be respraying my blue sapphire FC into the color you see here. harbor blue metallic !!!

I have the shine auto kit.

shine auto front lip.
shine R-spec sides and rear valance
turbo II hood, turbo II spoiler
Modernized S5 tailights
Shine auto forsight front fenders

pulled quarter panels and all the dings dents worked out

i also fit some 17X10.5 FR500 mustang wheels with some 275 40 17 kumho Mx's looks like i can possibly even fit a 315 or a 305 with a close close fit but only time will tell.

other wheels i have for this car are fikse FM5's and a set of bridgestone VTR wheels. but with the bridgestone I will be runnin 25MM spacers to make up for the flush 17x 9.0+48 17x10.0 +38 5x114.3

now ON with the pictures !!!

stock quarters boo !!

roll roll roll your savannah!!

Nice choice with the Foresight front fenders. Very sleeper build (minus the meat), looks perfect to me. Post pics of the outcome too please.

A man after my own heart....V8 powered FC, mostly stock body with a pull, and wide wheels.

Please tell me it will be low.

Keep up the quality.

Grip. to be totally honest. after seeing your FC was what inspired the build. Otherwise it would've stayed as its stock body track car setup but some slow days at the body shop also help jump the paint/body build. it was supposed to simple then one thing after another i acquired the kit etcc.

I just got jew'd on my JDM wheels unfortunately so ill be rolling the FR500's for a while until i find some worthy wheels to put on thatll set the car off correctly. the interior needs work and wiring in the engine bay but slowly we will get there.

What did you do to tint and clear? Mix a little black base into clear?

Been thinking about hitting my little molding lights with that combo.

test fit with some 26X11.5X16's I used on my MKIV supra. I pull 1.6's on this tire combo and I know I could go more and my supra was underpowered out the hole.

I use light solids black tint and knock a step out of the process, found it easier to control the tint that way also. How did your shop adapt the booth for the waterbase? Added fans? I hear you can paint really quickly with it and color match is improved

we have a nice downdraft and heated booth. so we're good to go

paint quickly ? nope its slower if you dont have heat and the draft/ air. color matched is MUCH more difficult but easier to blend and the colors are more vibrant

the key to waterbase is air flow, did you retrofit the existing booth for water base or just start spraying the water based with no changes?
DuPont is saying fans in the booth, and with the right set up there is virtually no flash time and all the painters I spoke with claim better color match

will see how much longer we have here on the east coast

you dont use fans . you use venturi guns that hook up to your air hose. take that and hand blow or they have a stand that you can put two or three blowing at the car.

and color match is better. only if you can shake off your solvent tinting ways.
