My build-up thread / Project RoXanne

I'm making this thread to show my progress and quite possibly ask for help as I go along.

Geez, where do I start?

First off the engine I guess. I'm buying it from Frank a.k.a RXciting down in Ottawa.

The irons were ported then lapped .004" and nitrated. All brass plugs in irons were drilled tapped and allen key NTP plugs installed in case you need to use for alternate oil sump/supply.

The housings were ported then coated with cermet B which is what is used in many race engines. (feel free to research this, don't take my word for it).

Pictures are available.

- new 2 peice mazda apex seals and springs
- new mazda side seals and springs
- new mazda oil control rings and springs
- Atkins solid corner seals with new mazda FD springs
- new mazda rotor bearings
- new RX8 hardened stationary gears with multi window bearings.
- new mazda FD oil pressure regulator
- new mazda TII oil pump
- new mazda oil pump chain and gear.
- all new mazda needle bearings and thrust washers.
- MazdaSpeed 3puck sprung ceramic clutch kit.
- Atkins thermo pellet removal
- higher flow rotor bearing oil injectors in e-shaft
Coming with the engine is a T70 turbo kit and a few other goodies. More info/pics once I actually get my hands on the engine ( I'm a four hour drive away from my car). I've seen the thing before in his shop though.

I'm also buying the ultimate E6X package deal from speedmachineperformance.
http://www.speedmachineperformance.c...age%20deal.htm

Next up is the fuel system. Any recommendation is welcome. I'm thinking Walbro 255, new lines, good filter. Not sure on the injector sizing though.

Now the car. It's a 1990 GTU with 110k kilometers and canadian specs (I've got door vents suckers!).

I'm not planning to change the N/A drivetrain until break-in is complete. Only exeption is if I get my hands on a N/A diff.

Stay tuned for more.

Why did I get moved? It's not because I have pictures that this is a picture only thread.

May I make a few recommendations?

So far, it seems like a killer project but I'd go ahead and get rid of all the N/A drivetrain stuff now while everything is out and get the TII stuff in there.

As far as injector sizing with a T70, I'd go with 1300cc primaries and 1600cc secondaries. Seems to be a safe range.

Those days are over,
You don't have to sell your body to the night.

Back to the topic.

I still don't think I'll change the drivetrain since the main goal is to get the car roalling again to bring it here. I'd prefer to spend my budget somewhere else. I can already hear Ted whining cheap will bit me in the *** and I agree actually.

The engine will not damage anything during it's break-in period so my money will be spent getting more useful parts. I will surely swap the drivetrain next spring along with a new paint job and a few body add-ons (Right now I'm thinking infini black with blakened everything plus corksport's overfenders and lip).

During the course of the summer I'll be adding more upgrades like coilovers, better brakes, wider tires & rims, etc. That's my plan so far.

Moar pics:

And this is what killed the original engine the first time around (search to find how I killed it a secound time).

Update

Got some time to take a few teaser pics today.

And here is the fabulous ... N/A housing!? WTF?

Someone must have been pretty tired. No big deal however, I'll exchange it when I go get the remaining stuff.

Alright time for an update. I'm back to being single (yet again) so the project can get back on track.

I've started to order a few more things and I'm still hoping to get her running before summer.

Now I've got a quick Q, will 720's fit the stock primary fuel rail?

Thanks all.
