My 1987 FC...from the woods to my driveway...
Thought I would share some photos of my car and how far its come since I got it. I've had the car for about a year and I'm so proud of what it has become over the last year. We dragged the car out of the woods and this is what it looked like:

It took us several hours of pulling, rigging, and stuff to get it home...

Here are the pics after we got it home. This car had been sitting up for 10 years and needed ALOT of work!!!

I basically wound up going over the whole car. I had to have the fuel tank cleaned and re-coated, a new fuel pump assembly and a new battery. After all of this, the car fired right up!

After that I realized the all the car really needed was a new clutch. That's the reason why it had been neglected. Put car into gear and it wouldn't go anywhere. So after that and going through the brakes and it was back on the road again. A new exhaust and some new tires and I had myself a running, reliable FC...even the A/C worked!

But after a while, it was just kind of plain jane...I couldn't leave it alone. Had to make some improvements to this car. And I was wanting a dedicated track car...

So then it was time for a brand new suspension for the car. I called Mike at ISC Racing-and he was able to sell me what all of the winning ITS RX-7 guys were using...
Billstein shocks
Adjustable sleeves with linear rate springs
1 1/4" Speedway Engineering front sway bar
Caster/Camber plates
As well as a whole slew of other parts...

Those alone with a donor S5 parts car and I was set for a five lug swap alone with 4 piston calipers. I even installed a clutch type LSD with my factory 4.10:1 gear ratio.

I love the suspension as a whole...I'm went with 400 lb springs in the front and 250 lb springs in the rear. But with this setup, the springs are cheap so if you wanna play around with different setups, you can easily remove them.
I would say it's about 850 dollars...but don't quote me on that....

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Believe it or not, this car has never been in an accident. All of the dings and scratches that it has gotten were from sitting in a car yard for all of that time.
The safety stuff is whats really gonna cost me now. A full weld in cage professionally done locally is gonna cost about 2,500 bucks. Throw in a FIA seat, a set of belts, fire supression, true R compound tires and wider wheels, transponder....this stuff adds up! Not to mention things like a 5.12 rear end($2,000) and a built tranny with the GTU-s fifth gear. Hopefully taxes will be good to me this year.
For now I plan on getting the Kirk Enterprises Comp Roll Bar. I may be able to work from that at a later date. I'm trying to get the car ready for SCCA Time Trial school at TGPR in April. We will see how that goes.

Probably not ever. When I first got the car I had planned on doing a crazy V8 swap or something along those lines. This was because A. I didn't know jack about rotaries and B. I wasn't even sure if the motor was any good. But after I got it running, I saw that the motor had been recently rebuilt-so I knew it was good-and the car has just ran so good since then.
Something else I have thought about I'm going to do as well is the Rtek 2.0 ECU upgrade. Does anyone have any thoughts about this?

Thanks man, most people around here just see it as a very loud car with a black hood that shoots flames! lol Seriously, I put that turn down on there to quieten it down a little but I also did it because people were getting scared at night when they were on my back bumper and see the little fireball it poofs out when I shift.

okay so if i purchuse the front sway bar, what rear sway bar do you suggest to get? I was thinkin about that sway bar however i didnt know if it would be overkill or not for a mostly street car at least for now. What do you like about the sway bar so much? and ill give him a call thanks

It's a lot of money, but you get alot of value for your dollar in this piece. Something else to know is that it's not a "bolt in" bar. There is some cutting and welding involved, but it's not horriblely difficult.
