mixture adjustment

Ive heard guys talk about it and i think its by the air box mazda calls it a variable resistor on page 116 of the haynes book. am I right, is that it? one side i R and the other is L, so i figured that was it but best to ask befor i touch it. its a 1987 rx7 that im working on, and shes my baby with a 1/2 bridge motor so i figured I could richen things up as I see fit with this, or would it not make a big enough difference to the mixture.

The Initial Set Coupler ( two wire plug near the leading coil) needs to be jumpered before adjusting the Variable Resistor.

only affects mixture at idle. to affect mixture in the whole range, you need to adjust your tps.

wait, i didnt mean tps. i meant airflow meter. there is a wheel inside the AFM that turns clockwise or counter clockwise. depending on which way you turn it (its spring locked, so you have to push the sprung lever out of the way and the wheel has teeth on it) and just turn it one notch one way or the other to affect the whole band.
