Machinist pwnd my alt pulley

I picked up an FD alternator and took my FC dual belt pulley to my local shop to get it machined to fit. Just got a call for him that something got screwed up and he bored it too large. He's gonna pay for my replacement...but I was all stoked to get my electrical upgrades started.

Oh well, **** happens and I'm only out some time. Hell maybe I'll use the downtime to learn about cracking open the alternator and making it pretty.

I have a couple spacers I can cut to size so that I can match up the belts...plus, I don't like the rotor shaped thingie on the end.

Banzai Dual is the way to go. You will either need to use a small spacer or two (oil cooler line insert *word is escaping me at the moment*) work great per Kevin Landers or you can machine the lip on the alternator down a little (which I did).

I really don't like the rotor shape on the front of that pulley. I'm going with rotaryinnovation's dual. I found the perfect diameter spacer at Lowe's. They are long, but I own a dremel and cutting discs.

To test the alternator I took my old OEM pulley and dremel'd it wider so it would fit FD shaft and cut one of the spacers so the pulley could be tightened down without rubbing. I didn't worry about the length or lining up the belts because I was simply taking it into Autozone to have them test it.

well I've got my rotaryinnovations pulley correctly machined. Now I see what you mean by the lip needing to be machined. The shaft simply isn't long enough for a spacer, pulley, lock washer and bolt. I'm concerned that even after grinding the lip down some that there wont' be enough room for a spacer to line up the belts.

the Banzai dual...it comes bored to the correct diameter. Is it a direct bolt on? Or do you still need to grind the lip of an FD alternator? The little rotor on the end is far too much bling for me...but if it's a direct bolt on then it might be worth it.
