Just got pull over by the police again for having a loud exhaust. Ticket was $114. Just wondering if any of you guys are getting pull over for having a loud exhaust. Got dual 3 inch ebay exhaust with 2.25inch piping from the pre-cat all the way back to, two 3inch outlet ebay exhaust on a 1990 rx7 with stock exterior . I know i was asking for it. Hahaha.

 

Ohh, yeah i told him that my exhaust has a hole in it. Haha. And he gave me a ticket becuase i got pull over for the samething within the 6 months. So, he gave me a fine for having a cut- off exhaust.

Wouldn't you have rather invested that $114 to a better exhaust system?

 

I gotcha dude, I got pulled over finally for my loud exhaust after 3 years of daily driving with it. The cop was cool and just told me I needed to change it and that he only pulled me over to make sure I wasn't coming home from the street races. I had my work clothes on, and he let me off without even a warning ticket. But he was so cool and just having a conversation with me about it that I took his advice and changed it to a RB system. Now I feel 10 times less nervous around police.

Cool police = an effective police. I guarantee if he was a jerk about it and/or gave me a ticket that I would have thrown my brother's stock exhaust on, got it signed off, and changed it back to the loud system immediately.

Now my dad's stock S2000's exhaust is louder than my car on startup.

 

fight it. swap the stock exhaust back on, get it inspected, take results to court, pay court fees
drive home put loud exhaust back on lol

I got pulled over when I was running open down pipe right after I finished my TII swap. Cop told me to shut my washing machine off. (that was a new one) Made fun of my car for like 10 mins then told me to have a good night.

 

Your fIrst mistake was talking to him. You don't have to say anything to a cop.

 

I went and look at both of my citation they wrote out to me. The first one said, motor vehicle with unequipped exhaust ($115) and the other one said, exhaust cut-off($114). I herd that if you told the cop that you have an aftermarket exhaust they will fine you even more. Looking around a $300 fine.

 

Same here, I should have never said anything. The first time i got pull over i told the cop that i bought the car this way. The second time i told him, it has a hole in it. haha. but didnt work.

 

Invest in a good exhaust. Your car will sound better, cops won't write you tickets, people won't hate you, and you'll enjoy driving the car more.

I had to switch back to the shitty 'custom' exhaust my car came with recently, it's so terrible. It's just a large aftermarket cat, followed by the stock y-pipe with 2 glasspacks welded to it .

 

I got a straight pipe to a resonator and apexi N1 muffler. Its pretty damn loud in my opinion, but I don't get too much attention from cops. Mostly because I play it real cool when they are near and I downshift waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay early to keep rpms low and sound low. The 3inch piping all the way and large exhaust tip is a bit attention grabbing, but I've had no problems.


Just depends on the cop and depends on how cool you can play it. Of course my car is turbo, so from what I've heard its quieter than na rx7s. (haven't seen another na rx7 with same exhaust to compare).

I have a reducer for my exhaust, quiets it down a lot. Took the 4" tip down to a 2.5.

 

Same thing happened to me in my half bridge port s4. I tell em its broke and misfiring rofl.
