Legit Maaco paint job
i think it depends what macco place u go to..u might go to a place with all retards that dont care what the job looks like as long as it gets done..or u could go to a place that has some good people who actually care about the job they do and it comes out good..

$600 later
I was thinking, if i do end up taking my car to Maaco, i would do the sanding and bondo, removing lights, and masking myself cuz obviously they don't seem to care much about their job. The paint looks great tho aside from the few blemishes, i had been thinking of going with the $600 or $900, package but it looks like thats not gunna cut it.
P.S. Funkspectrum what size tires do you have ?

well my car is really low so it helps with flex on speed bumps and my drive way. plus it makes for easy removal. and when you are drifting or racing if you happen to clip a cone the body kit pops off instead of breaking. then either you or some one else ends up running it over lol
The big keys to getting macco or earl paint jobs is to prep the car yourself. remove everything and have it ready. Years ago I made the mistake of leaving some trim pieces on a 68 mustang and they actually buffed scratches into it as well as the windows. Numbnut asswipes. New glass is not cheap.
Single stage paint is expensive but even they cant fubar that. Plus if they do you can wetsand and reshoot small areas yourself.

Let Maaco do the masking. Just pull off the tails and such.
I'm pretty happy with the paint job. Only a handful of bubbling and runs...barely noticable.
The thing is, it's a street car that I autocross...it's gonna get rock chips, dings and dents...why spend 5k on a full job when it's just gonna inevitably get fucked up anyway.
225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear
Fronts are BF Goodrich g-force pro on a 8" wheel and the rears are Yokohama AVS ES100 on a 9" wheel.
Wheels are Volk type AVs...

Well, I had originally intended on painting the car the factory tornado grey color but I spotted the palate sheet at the body shop...ended up seeing the color my car is now which is Gunmetal Pearl. I love the color...Looks almost black at night...
Yup, **** spending the bluebook on a PJ. I'd rather get a cheap one and spend the rest on going fast. Function > form
I had a car painted by maaco a couple years ago and they did a decent job for the price. The only thing is that even if they have been painting for awhile, they don't strip the car down like you need to for proper painting so there will always be some kind of imperfections.
^ Very nice, the car looks brand new. Put some tire shine on that bitch though
You can't replace the rear quarter panel because its part of the unibody, I'm guessing they did their best to repair it with a stud gun and bondo'd the **** out of it. You would honestly never know it happened, its perfect but for $600 I'd expect it to be. Thats almost what the paint job cost lol.

I realize the rear quarter is part of the unibody. I was just wondering if they cut the old one off and rewelded on a replacement. I'm still trying to figure out how to deal with mine...
Ah, yeah I'd take it to a local one and get an estimate. I didn't think they could get the body line over the gas tank back but they did a great job. They should be able to fix that but being labor intensive it'll probably cost a bit.
