lame tire question

i have some volk rims

17x8.5 40 mm offset and i would like to put nitto 275 40 17s on them

i hear 17x9 w/35-38mm fits this fine

with the balloning etc in mind..

do you think theres any hope in hell it will fit? car has lowering springs, i might swap them if it's in my favour..

i'm going to have around 400 whp with v8 torque, need traction

sorry i don't have a rotary but i paid 4k for this car lol

I can't see that fitting the stock fenders. i run 17x8 w/38mm on 235's in the back of mine and they are pretty tight.

I don't think it will fit in the front with a normal shock/spring combo. I was barely able to squeeze 17x7.5 with 225/40/17's (+41 offset) under stock metal fenders (in the front). And i used a 5mm spacer. However I think it's do-able with coilovers, and some aftermarket over fenders.

I was looking at a thread on here before I posted. They mentioned that 17x9 w/ 35-38 mm offset...

I am trying to figure out the relation to a 40mm and skinnier rim as it seems to be about the same position..

I have a friend with some sw20 rims I'll try those and see how it looks!

17x9 35 and 38mm with 275 40s mounted

you can get away with a 275 in the rear with proper offset but it will be a tight fit...

I ran my AW7s (17x9 +35 rears w/ coilovers) on a 265 and its fit fine... now I'm running a 235 for a nicer look and I could go -10mm more for a flush look... its all in the offsets and suspension

thanks for all this info thus far

with a 17x9 35mm and a 275 which is more likely to rub?

i have aftermarket springs out back and they appear to be quite thin.. i'm not sure if it's quite as thin as a coilover ... i'm not a big rx7 guy, these springs look 2.5" in diameter..

is the biggest point of contention for fittament issues the suspension or the outer lip with the aforementioned tire size w/ 35 - 38 mm offset?

I can get an arch roller, will the wheel arch roller be sufficient if the rubbing is typically the outer fender lip?

Thanks!
