I you HAVE to own an Oxymoron-mobile
are you really going to try to compare the success of the small block chevy to the wankel?
So there were two different concepts produced, the 2 rotor and the 4 rotor versions. The 4 rotor was nearly 9.5 liters and made 370hp and was built on a Porsche 914/6 chassis. Man this story is nothing short of amazing!

(If the above link to the pictures ever die, PM me for the original pictures - I have them saved on my hard drive.)
The rotary has been tried by a few manufacturers. GM & Mercedes spent alot of money into research, but the fuel crissis killed them. As far as piston swapped RX7's I wouldn't do it any of my 7's, but there's nothing wrong with one. I have personally drove an LS1/FD, a SR20DET/FD, a 383 stroker/FC, a 347/FB & have seen run a Buick 3.8 turbo/FD, a 4G63/FD & FC. They all had their good points, but along with good there's the bad. Just my opinion I am content with my rotary, if I want to build one of those motors I'll buy the associated vehicle.

I'd only heard about the story woulda shoulda coulda Vette. Thanks for posting. And yes, I would compare to a small block V8. Please don't try and use the how many Camaros were built comparison like another Oxy-RX7 fan did.

Bottom line, to borrow a pun, different strokes for different folks.
And I still want Brismo to give me back my hat.
One more thing (note the specific comparisons to GM products): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNQfX...aynext_from=PL
and if you boingers have any more questions (this is for OldSchoolMel):

what am I missing with that Corvette? That is not the wankel prototype, same body but that one was always a V8
my argument was not going to be Camaros, it was going to be how many small block engines are out there period, from trucks to cars, boats, etc.

It must have been after they took one of the Wankels out and replaced it with a V8. One of the two Corvette prototypes had several different engines in it throughout its life.

Mazda engineers designed the car to have a 50/50 weight distribution for better handling. The car is still weighted out to around 2300-2800 pounds.
yes because ALL fcs have nice wheels, and lovely interiors, especially the brown interiors!

Wow $8,300 for any FC in todays world is a great deal for the seller. Might be different when the worlds economics rights itself.
Until then, I hope he views marketing his Oxy-FC with his reserve as an ongoing hobby. With time, maybe his marketing skills might graduate beyond trying to kid a kidder.

Bear in mind that the pullout alone is worth ~$8,500...
Shell minus motor/trans should be $3-4000 given the parts. If you could pick this up for $12k and put another $2-3k fixing the wheels/interior to your personal taste you'd have one hell of a ride for less than the price of a new Civic.

Everyone's favorite love it/ hate it FC is back up. The descriptions keep getting more absurd.

No one bid anything close to reasonable the last couple times this car was listed. Still if you were looking to do a swap this would be killer place to start. Ditch the stripes, get a couple racing buckets and some decent wheels and you'd have quite the ride. If I were starting out I'd offer the owner 12k and see what happened.

i agree love the swap, hate the wheels, kit doesnt match at all, the stripes are ricey and alot of bs on the description. w/e i admire just because its an fc and appreciate how much work has gone into that car. there's my love it/hate it comment.

LOL there's a reason why it's for sale & a reason why it hasn't sold yet! Bring the cost down & maybe. The work can be appreciated, but it's overshadowed by some poor judgement in exterior modding.
