I FINALLY have a running FC!!
So as many of you may know (if you care, and have been paying attention) I go through cars rather quickly. My first FC, a 1986 GXL, I paid $400 for and she ran really well. At least, on short trips... For a little while...
I'm pretty sure she had a going coolant seal when I got her and when I "Cleaned" the system with SeaFoam, I finished the job.

This all happened within a span of 4 months, February to June of '08, about half of which I actually got to drive her. She was after all my first FC and was plagued with a ton of usual problems: bad TPS, burned up tranny-to-chassis ground, etc.
Then in August (8/8/08 to be exact
) I bought a 1990 GTU off of a fairly well known forum member, "Niburu" who lives in relatively the same area and regularly showed up at the local weekly car meet. The car had blown coolant seals for sure, but had a TON of aftermarket stuff: Yokohama tires, Racing Beat front and rear sway bars w/ adjustable endlinks, (don't remember the brand of) front and rear strut tower bars, Tokico adjustable shocks w/ Racing beat springs front and rear, Custom locally made exhaust, and several other things which I'm sure I'm forgetting.

So I parked her with the intention of rebuilding her as soon as I had enough time and money (working full time while also going to school
). I continued to drive my POS Honda Civic every day, but that got old REALLY fast. I'd been trolling Craigs List for RX-7's and in late September I found one for UBER cheap.

On September 30 I paid a rediculously low amount (I forget what it was exactly but it was like $160 or something like that) and towed it away. He had told me it wasn't running, had a coolant leak and wanted it out of his yard, that's why it was so cheap. I dropped in the relatively new battery from my white FC, the
radiator from the white FC, and dripped some ATF into the chambers and VIOLA!! Weekend Driver. But she always ran like **** (leaky injector or something), and generally just made me more angry than anything else, So at the beginning of January I sold it to another forum member: Molotovman for crazy profit.
I used said profit and trolled CL's some more and came across a listing for a cheap 1990 GTU body. I fired off an email asking the seller what he planned on doing with the engine. He replied that he had wanted to keep it but some things had come up and if I'd like he'd sell me the whole car for $750. He said the car had been parked for two years but the motor ran beautifully when he had parked it.

(Pics are after I got it home and pulled the motor.)

I met the guy on the 27 of January, saw that the car actually existed and everything and paid him cash. Towed it to work, put a new battery in it, and went to start it, just to see what would happen and find out how much work it would take me to get the engine running.
Two cranks. Fired right up.
Mind you this is after TWO YEARS if not more (note the '05 inspection sticker) of sitting in somebody's muddy field under a tree. No tranny fluid in the chambers, no NUTHIN'! Fired up in two cranks.
I was ready to run from the demon possessed thing. So naturally I did what any Sane Minded FC owner would do.
I pulled the motor.
And put it in my Black FC.
And now I have a BEAUTIFUL, beautifully running car as of last weekend.

The Happy Owner and the Car together:

Me as of last weekend:

Lol...
Anyways, that's my long boring story. I've just been super excited about finally having a decent car to drive. I feel like, after a year of owning an FC (FC's...) I only just now finally have one!

Plus the Red one had some decent speakers I swapped over this afternoon, as well as all the black interior trim I was missing.

ps;
lemme know if you'd be interested in the GTUs rear diff, I may just go ahead and put it in my current FC
oh and don't mess with my suspension settings (trust me, there are 2 autocross seasons of tweaking gone into that) except for maybe some moar camber!

YAY!!!!!!
I don't know if you ever saw my FD, but that had sat for over three years and that fired right up with a new battery. Tough little engines these rotaries are.

I definitely don't have money for that diff right now, I'm thinking I'll get the GXL diff that I have in there, get used to AutoX or whatever I end up doing, THEN maybe think about crazy mods, Lol...
I was thinking about adding a bit more Camber in the rear but I wanted to get that rear RB sway bar in first. I haven't turned the shocks up yet but on the first setting, DAMN! This car feels SUPER tight. I'm gonna send you a PM when I get some more time, Dave, I have a crapload of Questions for you, which was why I was hoping to see you last Friday. But we shall talk soon kemosabe!

the vent fins are all busted up on the other side, the vents can be rolled 360 degress for those who don't know
as to the exhaust
that's because it's a custom 2.5" single pipe off the cat for
weight savings and better exhaust flow

Lol... Actually Clokker beat you all to the punch with a PM much earlier this morning. As I was telling him, I didn't even notice the red car had them until he asked for them! But what's with all the attraction? Personally I don't think they're all that great... Maybe I should raise the price on 'em! Lol...
Thanks! Flik FTD's, I believe they are not made anymore, and they're SUPER light! I bought them back when I knew jack squat about cars, so I don't know the dimensions, I was just told they would fit the car I had back then.
Thanks, I love the S5's in black, can't beat it. But the S4's, (with the black trim) I think white is untouchable... I've found it's actually kind of hard to take a decent picture of this car and make it look as good as it does in real life... Oh well, I guess you all have imaginations right?? Lol...
It SOOOOooo is...
Lol, I was wondering how many people would really read the whole thing, but I felt like it needed to be written.
Lol, I knew it would come eventually. I'll probably keep them for the time being, but I'll let you know if I decide to sell em.
Not yet... maybe soon if I get my butt in gear and start competing...
