s4 would be costly to get a black interior as only the 10ae had black, but i know someone that swapped an s5 interior into his s4, so i imagine you could do the same...
personally i'd rather swap the interiors than try to dye the current one...

there is a product called Bulldog, which is a simple air dry plastic adhesion promoter, I would scuff all the parts with degreaser and a gray scotchbrite pad, clean everything real good with alcohol, spray the bulldog, wait, and spray black panel paint that you can get from a local paint supply place.

dupli-color has a fabric and vinyl paint. I used it on my headliner and the rear cargo side carpets. I thought it would look look shitty but it looks stock. Nice product, and Im not a "rattle can" guy.
Although I dont think Id use it on the entire rug. It makes the carpet feel a little knappy.

I tried the Duplicolor Fabric Paint.Burgundy to black..it didn't look too hot.
I tried just the Headliner. After that Fiasco,I just went ahead and got an upholstery Guy to put on Fabric.I changed the Carpet also and the Whole Interior.
It took about Two days.

I tried to dye my carpet in my vert once. It sucked. It makes the carpet all stiff, and after a little foot motion, it wears back to whatever color it was.
I also tried some 3-part vinyl dye on my old S-10. That turned out like crap too. It had a cleaner, primer, and paint. It went on nicely, no bubbles. I made sure to properly follow all instructions, prep the surfaces like it said, and work slowly as to avoid making mistakes. As with all rattle can jobs, it looked good for a couple days, but soon the crap started flaking off, chipping here and there.
Best thing you can do is get a dark grey dash (possibly black, but I've never seen one) and get some new black carpet.
