you missed what I said, I was saying that my dad brought it home and asked if i liked it, I said he yes and he said it was too bad because it was a J-Spec, implying that it wasn't street legal here. He was just lying to me to make me think that I couldnt buy it. Also, I was 16, so I really didnt know all that much about them. So that is why I believed him about the whole thing. But I said J-Spec because my dad lied to me and told me thats what it was and I couldnt buy it, I wasnt saying that I own a J-spec GXL

The TII I have now I saw in some rednecks back yard under a tree. Waved $1000 under his nose, ATF'd it and drove it home.

fc3s runs deep

well, ive owned two 2nd gen rx7s. the first one i bought was a coincindence, really..a friend of mines cousin is a car dealer, and he calls me up telling me hes got a 90 rx7 for sale. i think for a second, and then reply, "no, its not a 3rd gen, i dont want it." a couple days later, my friend has his cousin bring it up to his house and has me come over, not knowing a thing, and springs it on me. they talk me into a test drive, and i finally gave it. i drove it and fell in love. compared to what i know now, i wouldnt have bought it. but i was driving a 89 cavalier rs at the time, so this was a nice jump. i bought that 90 gxl for 4000 on my 18th birthday, and drove it for about two months...then on valentines day of 2001, i was on the interstate during a storm that was producing some icy rain, and ended up sliding sideways into a semi that was doing 5mph while i was doing 80... after about a week in the hospital, i was good to go again, but my car was beyond screwed. so i drove the cavalier for about four more months, until one day i was looking in the classifieds and saw "1990 mazda rx7 for sale. many modifactions. call for info." so i called, and an older man told me it was his sons car, who happened to be 24 and lived out of state, and he was trying to sell it for him. after telling me the list of mods, ( it took a little while), i was hooked. then he told me the price: $10,000. i couldnt come close to affording that, so i just sat on it. finally, a week later, i decieded to make the two hour trip to go look at it. i went, test drove it, and fell in love. i talked to the father again, and he said they had dropped the price to 8000. still to rich for my blood. finally, another two weeks passed by, and i saw the ad in the paper with the rx7 that said "price reduced." so i convinced my dad to come look at it (he was co-signing for the loan, btw) and the guy told me he had dropped the price to 7,500. still too high... so i sat there a little bit, talked to my dad, and finally offered him 6000...he said hed have to call his son and he would get back to us. so me and my dad went out to eat, and low and behold, the guy calls me, and he said his son would take six. it was one of the happiest days of my life. i drove the car home just not even knowing what to think... i still relish that moment...

I traded my beat-up chevy cavalier for an 86 SE that didn't run. Come to find out it was a bad connection on the leading coil and bad plugs. My friend just wanted a car that ran so we traded. Man he's pissed. Anyway, besides some suspension problems, my 7's in perfect running condition.......will post pictures of before and after as soon as its done.

I was driving around in my 79 rx7 (base model, yellow) and I saw a 87 n/a for sale and I traded him even. My rotted old eyesaw (with a brand new engine that I put 7000 miles on) for a pretty nice gold n/a. I just wanted a 13B, although I do miss the carb. It made for very easy repairs.

My friend from the Air Force gave me my first FC. Gonna have my next one given to me as well. BUT I'm gonna build it up right. Seriously debating with myself over a big single 13b, twin turbo 13b, or a twin turbo 20b.

Tough decisions huh?

The details of my life are quite inconsequential...
Very well where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self improving boulangerieowner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a 15 year old prostitue named Chole with webbed feet. uh ooops wrong story

My co worker had a 1988 Lincoln Towncar with a 5.0 V8 H-PIPE exaust 64K original miles. Paint was oxidized. interior was Kool. it had exaust leaks like a motha. you could hear me literaly a mile away.
It belonged to my co worker named Sam. well it broke down on SAm 2 years ago and it just sat in his back yard for 2 years. One day he said he was donating his car and i said I take donations! so I went to his house and before anything he gave me the pink slip and keys and said "its your problem now". I'm like what ever.(*valley style) ne way The car would run on a fresh battery but would'nt hold a charge. tha ALt was giving out 14,4 volts so that told me fusable link. right ? found it. replaced it. and burnt rubber.
Well to go on with my 7 story. a coworker at my job siter said he had a 1987 TII and he said that it had alot of problems. brakes, hard to start, constant flooding, steering shake, exaust leak etc. etc.
so took it for a test drive. i ask wanna trade. he said really!! all enthused n ****. you really want to trade ?? i said. he hell ya. replaced the master cylinder, new tires and alingment, one of the Cats welds werbroke fixed that, installed a switch for the flooding problem and WHALLA. the Towncar was free and I traded him and got a tight *** BONE STOCK 87TII (mind you) that is bad ***. hows that fro a 7 story. final cost to fix the 7...
FIFTY BUCKS. i got a 87TII for FIFTY BUCKS. I drive it every day.

After my girlfriend rolled my old car into my friends truck I asked myself why I was still driving it...I started researching the ONLY car I wanted which was...you guessed it an FC. I turned down my dad's 92 bmw in PERFECT condition with 70k for a seven.

I found one I wanted in Ohio (I live in Ct). Called a buddy, asked if he wanted to make a road trip with me. We flew there and saw the car. To make a long story short after about 45 minutes of test driving and negotiating, 4100 got me an 87 Turbo II with 67,000 original miles. My bud and I took turns driving it back (at least that was what the deal was...after I got in it I wouldn't give up the driver's seat!!!)

Well, hmmm... let me see, one of my friends had a 12a and I thought the cars were pretty cool and definitely unique so I set out to out stage him. Anyway, I found a rare find, an 89 GXL for 2000 in Uncle henries. So I automatically called this guy up, being an S5 and all. I talk to him and anyway, the car had 140000 on it but I didn't care. We were to meet in the dmv and the moment that car roled in I imediatly fell in love with it. 2000 later and a couple of months I was now the proud owner of a Beige 89 GXl. My bro hates the car though cause he can shove it; he is looking at a 92 Eagle talon, FF, and no turbos. Every night I get a lecture on how it is gonna beat me and ****. Yeah, ah-huh is my answer.

Hmm.... friend of an ex persuaded her fiance to sell the me his practically mint black 90 GXL for $800, because they had a baby on the way. He agreed because he knew absolutely nothing about cars and thought the motor was on it's way out. I bought the next day slapped a p/s and a/c belt on it, ran awesome for 50K miles, then I put a jspec 13BT in it. He saw me about 2 months ago and I took him for a ride in it. I think he was jealous!! :-) I love this car more than any other

I truly made out like a bandit

last summer, on the day of graduation, i wrecked my nissan pickup truck and while it was repairable i decided i would try and get a used car at an auction in Greer, SC. my mom's friend used to be a used car dealer and went to the auction quite often (he is also good friends with the owner) the entire summer went buy and it came to the last week before i had to go to college. i decided to fix my truck and i would go to the auction and see if i could find something i liked for 500$ or less.

i didnt see a damn thing on the walk through. and right as i am about to leave to walk back home i saw my RX-7 go through. i didnt know anything about them except that they were suposed to be good sports cars and they are rare. no one bid on it and i asked my friend about it. he talked to the manager and he said he would take 500 for it.

so unfortunately it took me about 3 more months to pick it up. and after finding the forum, 2 months later i began rebuilding a used engine.....and now i am still in the process

I saw my first rx in one of those auto hunter magazines. I really liked the way it looked and had never seen one before. It was a couple towns over so my dad took me to check it out. It was a 87 5 spd, and I didnt know how to drive stick yet so my dad test drove it. I bought it about a week later with the money I had saved to buy myself a car. It had a few miles on it but the body was awsome on it. I ended up putting new plugs in because the back yard dealer didnt know squat about rx's and fixed an electrical problem in the dash and never had another problem. I never expected to get a foreign car, my dream car was always a '69 Baldwin Motion Camaro (BIG BUCKS!!!!) Anyway, I ended selling that car to a friend the end of my senior year in high school because I wanted to buy a Katana, big mistake!! With in days he crashed it (not bad) and then he really crashed it about 4 months later. I ended up not getting the motorcycle and buying another 87 RX which I sold last year because I knew it needed a rebuild that I couldnt afford. I aquired my most recent rx from ebay. 89 GTU. I plan on doing all the things I wanted to do to my other cars but never had the money for. This car is in by far the best condition out of the three so its a good candidate. I really wanted a TII but I couldnt find one close enough that was in decent shape. My dream car now? I still would take a first gen Camaro any day but I have to have that second gen modded out TII right next to it!!

After about a year of looking I saw mine at a used car lot (summer of '94). I watched it sit there for about a month then went in to check on it. A couple of people had tired to buy it but either couldn't get the money or the insurance. Since I wasn't worried about either (had cash). They were anxious to sell it to me. Car had 98,000 miles on it but the motor had just been replaced.

50,000 miles and almost 7 years later I am still driving it. It has been my daily driver pretty much the whole time. Did very little to it the first 5 years. Only recently has it needed much repair. (I actually almost sent it to the junk when it wouldn't start at the airport after returning from a trip. It was a bad day). The paint is faded but it is other wise in good shape. I think I will repaint it and keep it. Can't think of much else I would want.

My 87 GXL is now my third rx7. First was a 79 limited edition picked up for $2000(nice wheels). Second was a 87 SE purchased for $5000(yikes). Then after going back to working on VW's for a bit I finally got tired of the constant maintenance and wanted something reliable. Reliable is a N/A Rotary! I found the GXL on autotrader online in Gainesville for $1000, after speaking with the guy he basically told me I could have it for $700 if I just came and got it. Truck and Trailered it home that night. Next day while doing better inspection I found a sony cd player, alpine speakers in the towers, 10 inch powered bazooka tube with crossover, rockford in line fuse, and receipts for brand new tires, alternator, master cylinder, and battery.

Jesus Christ! Nobody ever gave me a dollar, ever. It must be nice to have a rich dad. I paid $100 for my first car when I was 13 (in 1980), and spent the next three years restoring it from bumper to bumper on a paper boy's salary. $25 a week. BTW, it was a 1966 Mustang coupe with a 289 V-8 and an automatic (yuck).

I found my 7 on ebay. It didn't meet the reserve. I contacted him after the auction ended, and made a low-ball offer. He accepted. I trailered it back from Maryland, a ride from hell for sure. I love the car though....

::walks into mechanic's shop::
"Hey, that RX-7 wasn't here before..."
"yeah, needs a new engine."
"$150?"
"Sure."

::drives off::

Needless to say, I don't really go to that mechanic anymore.

My story is strange. My dad had a 1st gen rx for a while I cant remember how long. Then he sold it and bought a secnd gen. 88gxl. At time I wasnt interested in 7's(knew it was a nice car but didnt think i'd get it) . then come this year. he said he was going to give it to me because he has too many cars. (92 galant,90 turbo eclipse, and the rx) i had a 88 toyo celica. i was like ok (didnt believe him). While all this is happening he had it at a "body shop" getting it repainted. or so i thought it was there for about 3 months and the guy wanted dad to take it back. ( i guess he left it there cuz he had no place for it) So he takes me there i pay the rest of the fee what the paint guy said dad owed which was like $100. take the car home. to find a few defectives. including a really bad paint job. SO now i am saving to get it repainted to start working on it. Oh and I always get a smile when i get in. I love driving it

where i live everyone drives a civic or a stang
and i didnt want to be like other people at all
tons of preludes around here and my best friend drives a 240 (i hate integras so they were out of the question)
so i was like hmmm, what kind of import could i get that is pretty fast stock and isnt common, and is a 2 seater9 i hate having poeple in the back) so it was up in the air between rx7's and del sols. Then at a party i was half drunk talking so some guy about his civic and he got to talking about a gx he had. He told me to go to www.rx7club.com so i went and never went back. Since that day it has been my dream to drive a rex. however i couldnt afford one at the time at all. I was 16 at the time and didnt have any money. Eventually i picked up an old pontiac for like 800 bucks to get me around cause winter here is deadly and walking is liek suicide. So finally i was downstairs on the computer, prolly reading up on my soon to own car when my parents said steve u can start looking for a car now( finally i could take out a loan) so i got to lookin. Nothing the closest one was like 2 provinces away and i definately didnt want to drive that far to buy a sight unseen car so i was getting mad. i called every single place in the city that deals with mazdas and used cars and a couple places reffered me to this guy. They said he had liek 10 in his yard so i was like ya this is wicked. Talked to him and for what i wanted to pay he had an 84 gsl-se mint condition but he sold it later that day, so i went and and talked to him about rx7s and he said he could get me an 87 gx. So he got it and called us to come look at it and i loved it. it needs some paint but the interior is mint its red with a grey interior. i Put the down payment right then and there. Right now a new engine is coming in from out of province so ill have my baby on the road in a couple weeks. I cant wait, i finally got my dream car.
