well....my first 7 was an 87tii black w.gray int.

a year befre i bought it i saw a street racing special on the news. a guy in toronto(i think) let a camera crew follow him around for a week or two. they talkd about all kinds of civics and ****. then they went out to the "races" w/main guy. he had a weird DD that he also raced. later in the first night he was challenged by a guy with a highly modded honduh. so....he breaks out the secret weapon! hiding in his shop is a S5 Tii RX-7. sexy *** hell...all blacked out. he stomped the honduh but had to give the honduh lenths....blah blah i was in love with the 7. i spent a year searching and researching... then i had "rexy" dropped in my lap for 2k. i fixed the LIM o-ring leak and whamy. my 7 addiction was heading for the poorhouse!!

i spent every cent i made on that car. i'd work on my friends' cars and what i got paid for installing intakes and exhausts i'd buy new stuff for the 7.

I got my first one (working on now) a few months ago after posting my eclipse up on craigslist. I hated fwd and got tired of *** dragging and fwd burnouts. Plus everyone has an eclipse so it had to go. It was either an FC or a civic hatch. Nobody wanted to part with their 240's.

I got my second one for $280 as a parts car a few weeks after i got the first. I found it a year prior at a junkyard and said to myself "I'd like to have that. FC's are bad ***." Now i do. I think i might go back and buy the 1st gen awd turbo dsm next to it one day as well.

Well my first one was a 86 gxl auto (not the best start but it was a start) I bought for $1400 in alhambra. Needless to say it needed some TLC. After a while I decide that the auto had to go and a 5 speed needed to be aquired. So a few months later and a few eBay bids later I was the proud owner of a 90 gxl with a blow motor. This $700 multi-toned (anyone that meet me when I got started will remeber this car-good times) projected turned out to be the best thing that happen to me (car wise mind you). I meet my mehcanic and good friend then built one of the toughest motors I've seen in a FC. Sadly about a few months ago it was hit twice and unable to go on so I transplanted everything from that one to the beauty you see in my sig. To bring this to an end I just got a JDM jewel in alhambra (one exit away from where I got the first one) coming ful circle in my rotary epic. That car will be another story entirely.

first one i found on autotrader. he was heavy into autox; so i got an 88 se with tokico/springs/n1 exhaust/home depot 6th port valve thing/ 17x8/9 racing hart tracer C for 1850. It was was a steal, it lasted me for like 3 years before I sold it.

i found my second 7 from a local car forum. I still wasn't too knowledgable at the time. It had a water leak and I didn't know. It was 2k and came with a tons of parts, even if it was salvaged. It was a t2 and it was fun. I sold it before it blew up. I got out of lucky. lol

my 3rd one(90 gxl, jdm motor swap) was bought on here, i greyhounded a trip out to michigan and bought it home. Hmm....it was worth it alone in parts, but still a hack job I thought. It blew up a year later. Changed the motor with a 13bre, sourced a local t2 drivetrain. His brother had a beautiful s5 t2(white) that was low mileageish.

I kept his number stored. I called him once a year to see if he wanted to sell it yet. It started as 1500 for the shell and slowly dwindled down about 2 years later to 500$; so now I bought the shell and had defined autoworks switch everything over with my new vmount.

Thats my rx7 history. You can see my current 7 in my albums.

My grandma wanted a vert or turbo but my grandpa didn't think RX7s/Miatas were safe, he got her a 91 N/A blaze red and she gave it to me around 2001 when I was a kid.

Shes been wanting a FD since 93`, I'm still working on locating a automatic 3rd gen for her, muhaha

my first FC experience was with the 87 GXL (red/gray interior, 5speed, 90k miles) my younger brother bought for $2200 in 2000.

it was so weird to me, but i always liked that car, i remember one time he shut down every honda in our neighborhood, and all of our friends with honda's (including mine)

he then sold it and picked up a honda.

2003/2004 i found an 86 TII (beige/maroon interior, 36k miles, blown apex seal's)...it was sitting in my buddys garage for 6-7 year's, he sold it to me for $500...i spent days trying everything i could to get that car to run, i did get it to start up, and was able to drive it a few times, but it eventually just quit starting....i traded it to some dude near me with a bunch of rx7's for a 84 supra celica that was mint....i later sold the supra for $1200.

ever since then i have been wanting a mint TII FC that is reliable, and low mileage....it is now 2009, and i have the $ to afford a mint one....i just need to find the right car....hopefully this weekend i will have found the right one for me (going to look at it sat morning)

wish me luck!

Now that I have another FC, I should add the story.

I had been looking for a clean and rust-free shell to swap my engine and stuff into, since my other FC was (still is) falling apart from rust. I searched for a long time and concluded I'd have to buy one from out of state, since MI dumps salt on the roads during the winter, therefore most FCs around here are rusted to ****. I thought I was going to have to ship one in from somewhere, and looked all overthe country.

I eventually found my newest one for sale on RCC in Texarkana, Texas for $500. I was originally going to have it shipped up here, but eventually me and my dad decided that we were going to drive down there and tow it back. It took 3 days, with almost 40 hours spent on the road. Also, if U-Haul asks, the car is a 1965 VW Beetle

PA 2nd gen love

hello everybody.
Thanks for all the info on this page.It has filled many hours of reading and learning. Please everybody do a search before you post.I have found all of the answers i need that way.

I first rode in my buddies 91 gxl in 96 or so.I wanted it.He eventually wrecked it d.u.i. which meant he couldn't drive for a while. He decided to sell it to me for 6000.After it was repaired. The speakers didn't work anymore, thinking back the factory power amp probably wasn't getting power. I drove it for a couple months and honestly never really drove it hard.then some old man puled out in front of me.Say goodbye to #1.I got the ins check for 9000 and fixed my old clunker and payed my buddy the rest of the money.

I finally saw another 2nd gen for sale around 02 or so.It was beat but the motor ran ****.It was an 87 gxl with a back seat and a destroyed automatic trans.I got a guy to put a yard trany in for cheap and somewhat fixed the exhaust. I had my car for a couple months and ran into a guy at the gas station who said he had one just like it, would i sell mt car for parts. I politely declined taking his business card. later that day I wrecked on a toll road because I passed out at the wheel due to exhaustion and exhaust fumes. I towed my car back to my house and licked my wounds trying to figure out how much it would cost to fix.It was way to much.

Fast forward two years or so. I finally called the guy from the gas station and offered him my car for parts. He asked me if I would like to buy his instead. A 87 gxl for 300 only if I could get it started and running without stalling. It didn't start,it didn't run,and hadn't run for a while. It had a new front drivers fender which had rough paint and a shot exhaust. The interior was mint and there wasn't a spot of rust.In Pennsylvania that is a remarkable feat.I worked on it for while and got it started.I think both he and I forgot to push in the clutch first (boneheads). The car wouldn't idle.So I took it for a ride.It was a lot of work to keep it from stalling considering i hadn't drove a stick shift in a couple years.I found a kick *** back road and let the car breathe,if you know what i mean. I got back to the house his house and it idled just fine.Later that day his wife took me to do the title and she told me her hubby was pissed I was able to fix the car.He had bought it new, not long before they met.most of the beginning of there relationship was spent in that car.He would really miss it.I still have it. It hadn't seen rain or snow till this year. That was a sad day. I still haven't painted the fender. Some timing issues i think. I love that car.I just I wish it wasn't red.

By the way, I parted out the old 87 in my driveway.I am keeping the engine. Most other parts are available for those of you in S.W.PA. See you in the bends.thanx

I came across my fc by complete luck. I was working two jobs this past summer to save money to buy an RX7. I've had my mind set on buying one for a year or two before hand. In the middle of my one job, which happen to be delivering newspapers, my friend tells me he seen an old RX7 in the paper a few days back. I seriously floored it to the last houses on my route to get home and read the damn paper. I get back to my house and the paper was thrown out. I went digging in the dirty *** trash and found the paper. I worked my *** off for my RX7 and I love the thing. I bought my 86 N/A GXL for $950 from the original owner in NJ. It was pratically a steal.

mine was owned by an older guy. he bought it brand new in 87. in about 2004, he bought an sti and just let the car sit in his driveway. everybody has went up to him and asked him to sell the car. he always denied them. i sent my friend over in october of 2008 to ask him if he would sell it. the guy denied him. so i went over there the next day and asked him about the car. i did not ask him to sell it. i just showed interest in the vehicle. i also found out he had an aps turbo kit to put into his sti. so i helped him do the install on that. a few days later he called me and asked if i wanted to buy the car for 2000 dollars so he could build his block. i sold my delsol (jdm ITR engine, built high compression) the same day and bought his fc.
43000 original miles. guy started it every tuesday and friday. havent found rust yet

Sup yall! Noob in the house!
The day after 420, what an adventure... I tell yah! When I got my first FC last week,
a 87 base model. Previously searched 2 weeks on craigslist, hitting up every for sale ad and found one for $900 in Goleta, CA.

Took the Train from Ontario (socal) to Goleta to check it out. Owned by a 19 yr. old, it was his first car. Did a thorough inspection, brought the price down to $575. I just had to have it, drove it home the same day.
Ran without a fuss, definitely a memorable day!
Paid $575 for a running FC. Not in the greatest condition, it has minor flaws, such as...

1. deteriorating paint on roof and hood
2. loose stick shift
3. banged up right fender
4. rusted exhaust and piping
5. right door jammed
6. minor rust on the frame railing underneath the driver side
7. expired tags

After my trip, took a day rest from car stuff... parked across the street.
Next day planned on cleaning her inside and out, look out my window when I woke up. Guess what???
My car is not there! Automatically thought I got it towed, just like what I expected found out it
got towed early in the morning while I was sleeping.

6 months Expired tags parked on the street. F*ckin fiveO just had to roll down my street 2 days after I bring it home. Had a trip to DMV and waited 1 1/2 hours to get it registered for $60, went to the police station to get the release... N picked it up at the tow yard for $367!
Well at least it's under my name now! Only if I'd parked it in my garage.

So... $575 for car, $18 for gas, $60 for registration & $367 towing fee. Time and experience... PRICELESS! LOL

$1020 total, thought I came across a great deal for $575, could of spend the $367 on parts!!!
I didn't plan getting it registered right away, until I got the shifter fixed to get it smogged. Still gotta get the smog done too...

Anyways no regrets. Although I could of gotten a turbo II for $1300 =( that I saw on CL too, damn damn damn. OH wells, I rather build it...

Some kid hit me in my first FC (gold 87) and "totaled" it out. I was looking to buy another car and the neighbor across the street was storing an 86 in his garage for a friend of his from out of state. He was some doctor who was hiding the car from his wife and had completely restored it with new paint, reupholstered and carpeted, , new wheels, keyless remote alarm. The car was mint so I couldn't resist when he decided to sell it. I bought it for just over 5000 if I recall correctly back in 1997. Still have the car to this day even though it sat for 4 years after a wreck then a few more years after the motor popped from sitting so long

Was out in Oakland visiting my Aunt back in 05. She had this red Mazda sitting in her drive collecting pine needles, etc. I asked her what was up with the car, and she was going to donate it to a charity, but they wouldn't take it unless it could be driven in. She asked me if I could help her get it running. It had been sitting there for almost 2 years. Charged the battery, drained the gas (3/4 full tank), shot some ether in the intake (hey, at the time, I didn't know anything about rotories). I'll be damned if she didn't start. smoked like hell for 5 min. Drove it around the block a few times and offered her "whatever her tax break was going to be" for donating it. Came out to $200, so I bought it. changed the oil, put in a new headlight, new belts, and drove it back to IL. 4 days and 4 tires later I had it home. (btw, just becuase a tire has good tread, doesn't mean its a good tire )

She's getting a new paint job this summer. Looks good in this pic, but the paint has oxidized/faded pretty good in the past 4 years.
