Guard Rail 1, FC 0
Was coming home and decided to go down some back roads last night on my way home. Pushing it harder than usual, rear began to slide couldn't stop. Rear hit then caused the front to hit.
Pictures:
Already have S5 bumpers. Tail lights are coming in monday, and I'm taking it to the shop that day as well. Everything is mechanically sound, not out of alignment. Hatch is fine, still opens and closes no cracks. I figure the rear should be able to get pulled out, going to need a new fender but that's about it. Nothing is jutting out into the cargo area or the engine bay. Any thought on cost or time?

You are very lucky, that could have definately been a lot worse. About a year ago i had something similar happen taking an on ramp too fast and went into a grassy hill area. This resulted in a bent unibody and damaged front bumper.. 3 hours on the frame machine (first experience working it) and was good to go. Being you have no frame or suspension damage, straightening brackets, and boltons for the front is all thats needed. If i was you, i would pull and tap the back fairly straight and cosmetically cheat with a raceon widebody kit. If you are taking it to a shop after you have already sourced parts, their time for finish work is whats gonna get you. I would purchase some cheap tools from harborfreight.com and attack it myself if i was you. Slide and body hammers are very helpful, and its amazing what you can get done with a little time.
Good luck what ever you do.
i feel for you

A lot of people have mentioned about doing over-fenders/kit, but I plan on keeping this car for at least 4 more years so I want to get it back to original as much as possible. Then modify the body later. You're in NY, you know about the snow and salt as well as I do...

Thats the only reason why i modified my rear widebody to bolt on and off. I also used an obscene amout of por15 in there too.
Your car will be back before you know it..........

sucks when that happens. next time the tail gets away from you, instead of hitting the brakes and trying to panic stop, just lay in the throttle. even in the snow and wet, you will scrub a ton of speed and probably would have avoided a hit. but yeah i know how it feels.. trust me.
thats me staring at my s13. completed the build only one week before i killed it. was on track though. welded rear end broke mid drift and threw me into the wall at about 60. i was already close to the wall trying to tap it.

That's not bad at all... could definately pull that and a nice filler with new paint, you'd never know.
I just bought a front bumper headlight (pass.) and fender for $50. The seller has another bumper in good shape with no tears, and the driver's fender. Could probably get them for about $20. I'm going back tomorrow to get a gas tank, and control arm (previous owner) for $20. Guy just wants to piece it out then junk the rest.
From all my lessons having well over 100K+ miles on sport bikes, and fast sports cars, my one rule of caution; slow down when it's raining or snowing (don't know if this helps). No matter how much skill you have, one stagnant pool of water in just the right spot on the road can do quite some damage. So, when it's hot and dry, I drive like a crazy moron... but when it's wet, drive like a granny in her Buick.

RB exhaust parts are going to have to wait, so will a half cage and camber adjusters. Oh well it'll fixed for before the drift season.

Ouch! What was that guard rail thinking?!?!
Well, like previously mentioned, at least your okay and the car can be repaired. I'd do what you can with the bumpers, fender and lights and then have a shop do what you can't. IMO stay stock body. If you are gonna drift it you might as well just pull panel yourself and move on, more than likely to be some damage in the future.
That is why my 7 stays at home this time of year.
Good luck.
