I need to pick up a fire extinguisher for this up coming drift season. I'm not quite at Tandem level, so I don't have a cage. So I'm looking for other solutions to mount it that don't require much hacking up or whatever. Pictures are apperciated.

 

Between the pass front seat bolts, make a bracket, and mount it.

 

What are the requirements of your sanctioning body? Or is this more of a want than a need?

 

It's adopting Club Loose rules. And it's more of a just in case thing.

 

lol hopefully i'll see your car there. i don't drift but my friends do so i just tag along. last few times i was there there was a red n/a that was drifting.

 

I'm not familiar with Club Loose rules or drifting at all really. The problem will be the fact you are going to want the mounting super secure - so secure that it may take valuable seconds fumbling to get it out in the unforunate event you need it. A fire suppression system would be major overkill. It still may be a good idea to check out racer supply websites to see if they have some sort of quick relase for an extinguisher. Pegasus Racing comes to mind.

You don't necessarily need that extinguisher, but those would be the types of brackets you should look at.

 

i welded my bracket on the transmission tunnel on the passenger side.

it also means you cant have a passenger seat.
i like the idea of it being on the passenger floor though.

 

just dont put it on the A-pillar as that is super tacky. I also welded mine to the passenger side floor on the tunnel in two cars. My RX7 gets it on the cage

 

I've never been to ClubLoose. But the track I go to (BeaveRun) is getting revamped with their rules.

i am still able to have two seats in the car. i have since swapped the t2 seats for some corbeau forza's and no fitment issues.

How'd you mount it?

 

it came with a bracket for a wall mount. there are two holes in it so i put selt tapping screws through it. it has a quick release strap on it makes it easy to grab when needed.

a friend told me that i need to get a K type or H Halon mentioned above, he said to change it because that one is a household one. if it ever came time to use it its a PITA to clean up because it will stick to anything hot and be caked on. the H type halon easier clean up

Make sure you can reach it from your driving position easily (especially if you're harnessed). And anything with a good metal bracket, so if you hit something it doesn't become a missile inside the cabin!!

 

Ah I just reread the quote you just let it sit in the bin my bad. My interior was gutted already when I bought the car so I'm going to have to use some kind of metal bracket. Like S2-13BT said I don't want to crack my glass or head with an extinguisher

BTW no harness/cage yet. Just starting out don't think I need one, I won't be doing tandem anytime soon.

 

I think the ones you can get from walmart have brackets.
