at about 5:48 into the video, looks like fc with fd front, UIM, and miata dashboard??

any one got any more info around the test car? looks interesting

 

That's exactly how they developed the FD. They used many parts on an FC. The same thing held true with the FC. Many parts were tested on FB's including the independent rear suspension.

 

i do recall hearing about the REW being rushed in development before the FD chassis was ready to hold a power plant. Probably one of many reasons why the FC chassis was being tested for the FD sake. Rather than making the FD an entirely new car. They took data from the previous model and adapted.

Which in this video would explain lots, especially using the FD bumper on the FC to take data on airflow from the new front to the radiator or other cooling panels for the REW testing phase .
