Exhaust tip + Dirt + Freezing temperatures = FAIL

I've had my exhaust leaning up against my house for the last few weeks, fully assembled with the tips resting in the dirt (very bad idea in hindsight). I finally brought it inside today to fix the exhaust leaks. I got it all broken down and that's when I noticed the frozen dirt jammed into the tip of one of the mufflers. I figured it would be fine if I just chipped it away with a sharp instrument (in this case, a bastard file) I started to beat away at it and managed to get some of it off, until all of a sudden the whole plug of frozen dirt slipped down a good 4-5 inches . Luckily, it didn't fall into the muffler. I've brought it inside to thaw, any ideas what to do to get it out? Well, I guess once it thaws out I can shake it around to get it all out...

blow compressed air into it? Hmm, slowly pour warm water in to your exhaust to make the dirt into mud, and maybe a clothes hanger to pull the clumps out?

That is a good idea. I will probably try that tomorrow, since it's way too cold outside to do anything now .

My question is... why was it jammed in the dirt in the first place?

Just poke it with a screw driver or something and start the engine and blow it out with engine exhaust.

I had it leaned up against the side of the house and I guess the weight pushed it into the dirt further and further. I knew there would be some dirt getting in there, but I figured I would be able to knock it out since I didn't anticipate it freezing in there. I also only planned on having it there for a day or 2 but procrastination took over and it ended up staying out there for almost a month.

I just went and checked on it, it has already turned into mud, so tomorrow I'll just shake it loose. Lesson learned.

your making it seem like its a big deal, just get a stick or something and poke it out when the pipe and mud is warm.

Yeah it was more of a 'LOL look what happened!' not an 'OMG what do I do?'
