ebay

Hey...Cut it out!

I've had a few ebay good experiences, and a couple of shitty ones as well. The most recent good ones were when I ordered vacuum line last year.
I mistakenly ordered 5mm vacuum line as that was the hose barb size on my UIM. Turns out it fell off with no effort. So I emailed the seller, explained that despite measuring first, it wouldn't work and asked nicely if they could send me a sample of 4mm & 6mm so I could find the correct size. Seller was glad to, did so on their dime and I got it a few days later. Found I needed 4mm, let them know and sent the 5mm stuff back for exchange. A couple weeks later, I ordered 20ft more of 4mm hose and a few more feet of 6mm. In my eyes, they earned their positive feedback without question and I ended up buying a few more things from them later on too.
As for bad experiences, the biggest one I recall was when I was trying to sell my Mitsubishi Mirage in 2007. Some assclown hit buy it now for $1200 and send a stolen nigerian money scam overdraw check written out for $3200, despite clear directions in both my listing and several emails that I would only accept a US POST OFFICE MONEY ORDER or PAYPAL. Thankfully, my bank was very thorough in their duties when I inquired about the suspicious check. They said it was a bad check, so I turned it into the Post Office's Postal Inspector, filed for a relist on ebay and was back to square 1...
The next attempt at selling the Mirage wasn't as ridiculous as I made the listing require an immediate non-refundable deposit of $300. One person intended to buy it, ponied up the $300 and then had to back out of the deal. Being the nice guy I am, I offered him a chance to make good on the rest of it in a couple months. Since he couldn't, I gave him neutral feedback as I got to keep the $300 in the end.
After those two clusterfucks, I was done with selling on ebay, especially after some cockstain skimmed my debit card number and racked up $60 in ebay fees. Thankfully, my bank nipped it in the bud as well.
Nowadays, I'm very picky whom I deal with. If I'm looking at RX7 stuff, I usually start with Rotary Resurrection's ebay store because Kevin knows me and has always been straight with me.

i've actually been pleasantly surprised selling parts here, it seems like if you have something that people want, and its priced within reason, it sells quick.

i probably won't ever sell parts on here again, because of one arrogant person.
if i get the holier than thou speech again i will vomit my guts out. unfortunately that means people have to contact me personally or pay the higher ebay costs due to the costs involved.
funny thing is i was pitching stuff in the garbage left and right when i left last vegas. i threw out and gave away about 2 tons of misc FC parts, some of it really was garbage, other stuff wasn't. most of my good OEM cats wound up going to recycling.
ironically selling parts is much more relaxing than building engines, even though i recondition most of the parts i sell. must be the break in the monotony, since i can build one of these engines blindfolded, and probably literally speaking at that.

oh i've had that happen on facebook, the funniest one was when they told me my peripheral port doesn't idle under 1000rpms, even though it does.
