RB exhaust, catless
External wastegate plumbed into exhaust--still loud when I get on it hard but pretty tame otherwise

Lowered with 17 inch 5 spoke silver wheels

I mostly deal with girls 22 - 28 , so seniors in college up through professional women. I've heard "cool car" a few times from female friends, but the car mostly gets attention from dudes
I only put about 3000 miles a year on the car though because of the fuel economy, clutch, and lack of A/C. To the ladies it's not exactly an Audi R8 style status symbol, and I don't have any kind of over-the-top exterior mods to attract attention.
It's funny though, my friend who daily drives a stock 2005 STi gets chicks looking at him and talking to him all the time.

FC is an aging car that will get more guy attention from those who know what it is lol.. but not as bad as the old toyota crowd, no one loves those besides old toyota people lol

My fiancee right now is getting mad at me because i haven't been working on it in awhile. She liked how the car drove, but that was when it had PS and stock exhaust (yes i let her drive the FC). Now its just loud and impractical, after our wedding next year i hope to work on it again at full force. Shes unusually supportive about the build.

I've heard all the gas smell related questions, I've been asked why I drive crappy cars instead of just buying something "cool". Yeah... girls do not dig either of my FC's. lol. Wow cant believe this thread is real...me and my buddies discuss this all the time....When my vert was rollin, i would pull so many hoes. never took any home or anything but they would be on it. gods honest truth. the first day i got it i got home around 1130ish pm....went to harry buffalo, pullewd up outside...omg look at that car ect ect ect...them hoes eat it up

Women dont want to be near my car, no air, no ps, no radio, Maroon interior. On the other hand Guys have gone out of their way to talk to me about my car and i absolutely do not know why. It is half primer half black/rust on the driver fender but i always get attention from the dudes. Maybe once she gets painted and all prettied up the women will look at it, but honestly i could care less.

Your mods that people would notice (briefly), especially exterior: For the fore-mentioned group, the fact that it's red and it's a convertible gets a tonne of attention. My area is pretty trendy and most cars follow the majority of silver, black, greys, and whites as stats show. Red really stands out. While shopping it was a black turbo II or the convertible, and my wife really really pushed me to get the vert.
Also people notice
- Body mods: Re-Amemiya wide fenders, front and rear, full front cowl conversion, rear bumper, side mirrors. Also de-baged
- Exhaust: turbo-back Knightsports exhaust
- Lowered: Cusco coilovers
- Rims: Mazdaspeed MS-01's.
- Engine: 90% of people don't know what that is. They notice the greddy type-s bov

Natually, I'd say 90% of people in general aren't very car knowledgable...especially imports. Just because it's debadged I get asked all the time what it is, men, women, kids, dogs etc. Of course, this is even more so for women. They have no idea of the significance of anything done to the car, but they definitely like the overall picture. I've had comments from women like: "Is that a Ferrari?", "looks expensive" etc. Obviously the word Ferrari is something everyone knows, but most women couldn't name a model or pick one out of a supercar line-up. They just think exotic. I just laugh it off as sillyness and say it's an RX-7...this does nothing to help the blank stare... then I say Mazda and it's pure surprise.
I would say most importantly, I don't and never needed "aids" to "pull chicks". I'm with cookie monster in that those types of chicks are very shallow and I've never been a ***** myself so... I'm less than interested in the attention. I just celebrated my 5 year anniversary with my wife and it's a bonus that we both enjoy the car so much. I bought the car purely for my driving enjoyment, but people buy cars for different reasons... impressing people isn't one of them for me, least of all club-skanks.

When I first got this car and started driving it around in '05-'06. I got a few ricers that wanted to have a little race on the hwy. Then that kinda died down.
I once had a little kid at a movie theater say to me "Is that your sports car?" "Cool sports car."
I once had a middle age woman ask what kind of car I drive.
I over heard two guys walking away from their truck say something about a Wankel motor.
I've had the guys at the auto part stores comment a bunch of different ways about the car and its rotary.
I've been pulled over by the police 3 different times, one for speeding, one for going the wrong way out of a parking lot driveway, and one for getting the tires loose pulling out of a stop light going left.
Other than that I don't think I've notice any attention my car might get in its 5 years of daily driving.
