That is an Excellent question.

The reason i shut my car off is because usually I can't get enough O2 to the spark plug in my muffler tip, but if i kill my ignition right when extra fuel is being added the engine wont spark and it wont create exhaust.

Wait . . . . . You bought a system to purposely ingnite unburned fuel? And it includes a spark plug mounted in the tailpipe?

haha no I did not buy my Microtech to make flames... I just wanted to try this out.

What I used were things I had just laying around.

They include an extra coil pack, an old spark plug wire, old spark plug, a relay, a light bulb, some wire and a switch.

OK in order to ignite unburnt fuel you need oxygen, fuel and a spark right?

the fuel is not being ignited by the spark plugs in my engine but instead by a spark plug that i mounted in the muffler tip

when my car is running there is too much flow and not enough oxygen in my exhaust pipe for the unburnt fuel to ignite. therefore when i shut my off my car I am shutting off my engine spark plugs and allowing uncombusted oxygen into my exhaust pipe.

as the engine winds down the oxygen moves along with unburnt fuel to the spark plug in the tip of my exhaust. And then BAM! A flame is burn.

If anyone else understands this and feels they can do a better job explaining then me. Explain away!! But I hope that gives you a little better of an idea though

cant you just put a nail in your exhaust pipe? i heard thats an oldskool trick.. exhaust heats up teh nail super hot, and unburned fuel gets ignited off it

Figure tho the nail will degrade and probably fall out to become a hole in the exhaust

Dude, you drive a turbo rotary. You don't need spark plug in your exhaust to pop flames!

I heard if your RX shoots flames on its own then its not tuned properly. Mines tuned pretty well. I could never get a flame until I made this system.

It was also an auto NA. Now its a manual Turbo. Lots of conversions went down when building this car.

Pretty much the whole front end is JDM 1991

If you are putting out enough unburned fuel to ignite it with a spark plug then its not tuned properly.

I put a MSD with a rev limiter on mine and it makes it shoot flames like crazy but that is just because it is cutting ignition.

I'm a bit confused and i don't know much about the microtech but doesn't that mean you aren't tuned properly.

the aux output is activated by a switch. when the switch is on it runs so rich my car is not drivable. when the switch is off the computer goes back to its original tuned settings.

Okay, I kinda want one now.
I dont think shooting flames all the time is cool. But if you can turn it on and off at will . . . . . . . I can think of a few times I would have loved to burn someones front bumper for tailgating too close
