Did a Search but I fail apparently. Modding S5 Taillights to fit on S4 Vert???

The centre piece on the Verts have the key hole for the trunk. I need that!

I've never actually seen the differences between the way the two mount. (S4 and S5)

I've read that i need Vert Specific S5 lights with centre piece. Is there a way that I can just buy regular S5 Tailights from a hatch and modify them to work with my existing S4 Vert Centrepiece? If I had my hands on a pair I'd be able to see if I could modify them but unfortunately, I won't have my hands on any till I buy some!

Has anyone done this yet?

Thanks!

Sorry if this has been covered already.

That's what I was afraid of. They're harder to find and seem to be a lot pricier.

if you want the key set up you need to keep the center section, they are interchangeable so if you cant find a s5 center it does not matter, a s4 will work with it no ZERO modifications.
S5 lights will also bolt RIGHT in to a s4, no modifications needed but its a little easier if you have the s5 bulbs with the s5 lights otherwise you have to dick with the s4s bulbs to get them in the s5 housings. Other then the bulb part they drop RIGHT IN, Im caps that statement because I always read about people bashing in metal here and there and its simply not needed or true, they will drop right in for the verts.

I had s5 vert lights on my s4 vert, then last year I went with coupe lights to change it up a bit, coupe lights require some metal to be trimmed

You'd have to ditch the lock, drill some new holes, and possibly trim some metal back. Wouldn't be hard.

Good to hear it! Thanks for the reply. Just to clear it up a bit, you're sayinng that I can use ANY s5 tails with my original center piece? I need the lock there as my cables are shot.

If I find s5 vert lights, they bolt right in.

If I end up runninng regular hatch/coupe lights, I need to trim a bit of metal?

Is that right? Trimming, meaning I can trim with a dremel, right?

Sorry, have lots of wrench time but never with cosmetics.

vert lights you can use your s4 center, but you need to stick with vert lights if you want to keep the trunk key function.

The metal you trim for coupe lights in a vert is not visible when the job is finished, you can use snips.

If you go S5 coupe lights you obviously need a whole s5 set up, and you would lose the key.

the trunk will obviously still lock

you can easily rig a emergency release if the cable breaks

Yes they have been and lots of it. I put 10ae tails on my 91' vert and all I had to do was drill 4 holes, cuz the centerpiece mounts just a little bit different place then the coupe's. Yes thats right I put S4's on a S5... get over it haha

those instructions do not apply to convertibles, the sheet metal in the tailight area of a convertible is different then a coupe

its ok, the basics are the same, but putting coupe lights in a vert require more trimming then that

coupe tails would work in your vert just fine if the 5.0 wasnt in there.
