death of my TII...

Well, a sort of death...

I got cut off on a freeway offramp by some old fart in a brand new Subaru Forester.

Unfortunately, it was either hit him or slam into the guardrail.

we'll see how the insurance situation pans out. i think i'm fucked.

That **** almost happened to me in the TII last week. Douchebag in a Saturn came into my lane like I wasn't there, I hit the brakes and avoided getting smashed by mere inches. I wished I had a train horn...

WOW, holy ****. This is exactly why I avoid driving my car anywhere other than to and from a driving event or car meet/show. I had a friend that built a 10,000 dollar FC (ported NA, full susp.) that got hit by some idiot an an escort and the company gave him around $3000 for the car.

Really sucks about the car, hope they don't total it.

I hope they don't total it out too. i have a few body shop connections that I may try. I need to see if the frame is straight then I may just have a tube frame front end welded up. crazy talk!

now that I look at the damage up close...it doesn't look that bad.

yea...and upon further inspection, my fluidyne radiator is still ok. it was leaking coolant from the drain plug at the bottom so I think the impact may have loosened the plug enough to dribble some coolant out.

I'm gonna try to get the car to a body shop this week and see about getting the supports pulled out. I have some people that I know around here that are gods with welders....so we'll see what happens in the next week.

Oh **** Nader, if you can pull off a tube frame front end, dude that'd be ******* awesome!
But if you can't, good luck finding another chassis to transfer everything to.
Either way it'll all work out

Oh and let me know if you parting anything out

I know how you feel I lost a VR-4 3000 GT just the same way but to my bad luck i stopped with another car. the car that caused it was a young kid on a neon didnt even stop to see if i was ok. car was totalled and my insurance had to pay a **** load of money to the owner of the car i sopped with plus the sky rocket change on my insurance premium for the next 3 years after that happend.

Yeah, (I got your message Nader) That will be a total. The front bumper is around $600, the fender another $200, the front cross support about $150, headlight assembly is $250, + labor (I would estimate 6 hours body work, two hours paint, and paint disposal fee, so around $800-900 there). That comes out to a min of $2000... more than half what the car is worth.

Now on the other side, it is pretty easy to fix all those things if you use junkyard parts.

Want me to talk to my buddies at Lou Saare autobody and double check for you?

looks tweaked, I'd hate to say it but that front end looks pretty tweaked, does it drive straight still? Or did the accident make it un-driveable?

Oh noes!!!! One of my favorite FC's on the forum. That sucks so bad.

I never wish anything like this to anybody on the forum and hopefully you can fix the car or hopefully you come back with something equally as nice or better.

Hmm I think Bryan (Elfking)'s rx7 was worse than that. He said he used a truck and chains to straighten his frame out :P then a hammer to fine tune it hahah

Sucks though man

If you need it I have a driver side fender I'll hook you up with. Homie discount price: 6 pack of MGD or free hahaha. I think I also have the front turn signal cover too..I'd have to check

Hmmm and it looks like the hood can be fixed.

the car drove perfectly straight after the accident. i didnt see any rippling along the frame or where the body meets the firewall. the only rippling i saw was on the fenderwell to the left of the leading coilpack. we'll see soon enough i guess...
