Custom evo style hood out of an na

For functionality purposes I decided to tear up an na hood i had laying around and make it functional for my set up.

I took two evo hood scoops that i go for free and molded the together. This is what i got.

Total cost about $100 for paint, spray max clear coat, some sand paper and fiberglass.

This.

If you can make it look nice and smooth you could pull it off. Beats paying $500+ for a hood I suppose.

it is cut exactly for my set up. I still need to lay another coat of paint and clear so i will be touching it up a bit and prob adding mesh. And also decals.

i dunno what to do about the little vent. it kind of looks out of place.

Does Illinois bother you about cutting you plate like that? Wisconsin doesn't take too kindly to that idea...

is two days not enough drying time or did i paint it wrong? my hood is accumulating lots of finger prints.

I do not like painting.

is that section on the passenger side intended to look like that or is it a whoopsie?

like he said, its cut the way he wanted it. i guess that little thing on the left is to clear the afm and such.
and also like he said, he cut the supports from under the hood

im doing one for a vmic setup

The idea is good, doesn't look bad from certain angles, but I do agree I think I would have used a vert hood. Since you had the NA one there why not if it does what you want.

ahh i would have just bought a sexy style hood before actually buying a hood for this project.

owner of shook motorsports kind of gave me the advice as to where and how to cut it. but the arrow piece i think thats whats being talked about was my doing and thats getting revamped

Too lazy to read. But how much weight you think you took off? I might do this.

So glad you finally got new wheels......

Clean it up and it will look pretty good. I plan on cutting up an na hood when I go VMIC. But there will just be a square hole cut in an aluminum hood with a vent box built on top of the intercooler.

Sounds weird but if anyone has seen Peter from defined autoworks S14 13b-re they would know what I'm saying.

The lack of craftsmanship on this project really takes away from the overall image of the car IMO. I think it would have been more rewarding, if you'd have invested more time.
