Custom big mouth hood scoop

Here is my homemade hood scoop. on the highway on a 92 degree day i see 184-195 coolant temperatures and oil is pretty cool as well. After runs the temp comes down very quickly.. in the winter it stays waaaay cold oil temps dont go beyond 160-175. I did cut the hood a little bit but I can still fit the OEM scoop back on with the factory mounting holes.

That's very clever and possibly unique, I've not seen a turbo hood used as an extractor before.

Works really really well. that massive front makes a huge low pressure area behind it. It sucks the tufts up at a few miles per hour. When the taurus cooling fan comes on the world gets even more blurry from the waves of heat coming out. It does change the aero up front though. There is a spot about a foot and half wide of spoiled airflow at the center lower section of the windshield. The airflow over the roof doesn't appear to be affected. As of right now its benefits outweigh the dead spot in the windshield.

Reminds me of an oldschool Anniversary Racing Factory reverse scoop:

Looks good! I've seen reverse scoops work well, a worthy mod to anyone who has gone FMIC

Can't knock a functional upgrade. You did a nice job. If it were me, I would add a single slat in the middle.

I like it!

I was just thinking if you apply aquapel to the windshield and go drive in some drizzle, you'd really see how bad the airflow disruption is.

Thank you very much. I think im going to make another one that's a little shorter and stronger. The one on the car now was meant to be a plug for a mold. I just glassed over it but its lumpy because of it. I have to finish my plane then I'll get back to it.
