I heard if you put subs in the boxes they sound like ****. I would assume it sounded horrible because someone just grabbed a sub and threw it in. I'm sure if you made a box to properly sit inside the bins it would be legit.
Go check the interior and audio category.

i got 2 JL subs in a box braced.. doesnt slide around.. i dont have any pics. I usually dont like heavy systems in my cars , but being i got the car with em in, and it was done very good, no complaints. Im tempted to install some sound insulation though, i cant hear my cell phone when im driving lol

I'd strongly suggest using the spare tire area towards the back over the bins. I got a cheap wal mart sub back there and it actually sounds pretty good. Then I just put my spare tire in the hatch and hold it down with the belts. Having the subs in the bins, meaning right behind you, doesn't seem to have enough distance to produce a decent bass. Then again I've only heard one car with one in the bins so I could be wrong.

You can if the subs don't have deep magnet structures.
Personally 8" is a woofer anyway.
Ideally you want the subs as far away from your listening point as possible.
I did have my twin 12's setup reverse firing, but I did some testing (was going for SPL at the time) and got better loading with both just pointing straight up (and as far back as possible)
In the end I didn't get the SPL I wanted as I could never get the sunroof to seal right. (only got 143db)
Ive never seen FC bins, but Im sure you could use them with the right sub and stiffening the existing bin well enough.

im not talking about trhowing subs in the stock bins lol...
i think he wants to cut a hole in them so a 10'' sub fits in it.. then mount it facing up and put sub box wood over it so it sits flush lol...
idk something like that... im letting him do what he wants... if i dont like it ill sell the system lol.

I dont know if loudazz7 has any pics of his system, but I believe he has a show system in that thing.
The more room and weight you add the better you will get, but the best sub I had ever seen was where someone had built it into the trunk area into one side and covered it in the same carpet, it looked factory because the speaker grill was not used, very stealth.
For ease of installation and removal you cant beat a tube or a premade box though, they give good bang for the buck.

Fc guys really aren't that into audio judging from this thread.
If you put an 8" sub in your shock tower mount it's either A) going to blow b/c it can't handle free air operation) or B) not breathe enough and sound like **** b/c you sealed it off and it has no airspace.
Guy above me did a good job.
I'm all for clean installs as long as the components work in harmony like they're supposed to.
*proper airspace for speakers
*poper power for speakers
*best possible location/angle for sq (regardless if you like sq or spl, this is important)
I'm lazy. Every car i've had i just tossed a box in the hatch/trunk and called it done. That way i can remove it if i want with ease. Now that you mention it, a thief walking by my car would think the same....... Hmmm.
The forum always has my gears turning.

I put two 12's in my fc before, friend told me to stick my head in, I couldnt hear for a few mins after.
I had one deep cone 9" from a rca home theater system, it was good enough till I got everything stolen.
Oh they didnt take the sub though, so I'll continue using it hehe

I have a box downstairs for 2 15" round subs i thought of putting in my car. Then i thought of how stupid loud it's going to be with 2 mtx 12's on 1000watts rms (switching to a chamber port box soon), and all my highs running of my deck amp plus an additional 100 rms to my tweeters from my high amp. Got two crossovers, one passive, one active...not sure what i want to run....
Oh how i love stereo. Pity 2 15's wont work in an fc....... Too much bass. 3 10's would be the ticket. JL power wedge and a 500/1!

I'm thinking of making a custom box with 2 extra storage containers to match the look of the car. If not, then I'll just get a 10" and call it a day. I'm running 2 12" with 1000 watt and it fit perfectly in the car, but it's too loud...and heavy

honestly being around car audio so much, I would go with one vented subwoofer and be good in an FC. I bought 2 15s from a guy off of Ebay last year...robotunderground.....best subs I have ever had....they are called hardtimes because they are cheap....100 for a 15 custom sub
