No such thing.... I would almost bet a paycheck on it.. I have read every bit of literature ever written about the rx7 and no 1990 LE has ever come up...
I bet someone stuck a Limited Edition badge on a car prior to your purchase..

I have a winning silver metallic fc.they are not special edition they are fully option gxl with the cargo cover in the back .only s5 to have burgundy interior. Although it is the rarest color in the usdm fc's . I will post piks of mine later. The color fades to a silver gold on most cars by now.brand new it is almost a match to BMW mojave metallic .also I have a factory s5 turbo2 verified by vin in color code 1f .custom ordered by my local Mazda dealer in December of 89 car was delivered march 90.

So it was considered a silver? Damn, they look pretty gold to me or as I always referred to it "Champagne"
I say LE but only cause it was limited in production...I'm curious as to how many were made and the options. Heard they came Auto also.
I used to have one, got stolen, buddy bailed it out and kept it, now getting it back. I wanna respray it so I would also need paint code. All in all just wanna know some history on the thing...
Here is my old '90

Yeah Japan didn't have non turbo FC rx7's.
Aus got them NA in the series 4 and 5 and in the convertible I think
Our Aus Delivered models were the same power wise (turbo Jap), except speedo went to 260km/h as opposed to the Jap going to 180km/h. And the rear tailights are different
FC Non Turbo S5 retailed for low $50k mark over here in 1989! Turbo around the $56K mark! I picked mine up for 5k already converted with an Autronic as you see it!
Tail lights are shorter on the Aus Delivered to fit our number plates in neatly (rear mufflers has been raised since this pic was taken )
Cheers

When the Winning Silver paint was new, it looked like silver with the slightest hint of reddish-pink. My dad had an '89 626 in that color back then. I suspect the pinkish tint was added to make the exterior paint compliment the dark red interiors that they came with, and the combo looked great back in the day. When you see Winning Silver cars today, I agree they mostly have faded to a sort of champagne-ish gold color.
On the U.S. market FC, the Winning Silver paint was available only on the '89 and '90 GXL (i.e., not on the TII, GTU, GTUs or 'Vert), but it was not marketed as a limited edition by Mazda. As I mentioned, this color was also available on a number of other Mazda models at the time: 626, MX-6, and probably the 323 and 929 as well though I don't remember that for certain. This paint color is pretty rare on an FC (along with the one-year only Brave Blue Mica from '91), but it will probably be another 20 years before anybody starts thinking of FCs as "collectible," so just enjoy your car.

Yeah, not my first choice of interior color either, but the S5 version is a little less yucky than the S4. The S4 burgundy upholstery always seems to fade to a horrible orangey shade that's a little scary. The S5 version started out darker and seems to hold up a little better. I imagine the plastics are identical in shade, but I've never compared them side-by-side.
