Advice Needed- Project Direction 10th AE

Well I have come down to it. I have collected most of the parts I need to build my 10th AE. Overall I am not going with a "restore" because the car has 152k miles on it.. Not exactly collector status.. The car is in great shape although will be recieving some paint in the engine bay ect... The front bumper has a tear in the bottom and therefore the car will be getting some paintwork outside too.. I am putting in an S5 engine under the hood, but need advice on the parts I am considering adding.. Ultimately this car will be sold so I am looking to maximize the desirability to the average buyer.. Just want to make sure that I am not going to ruin the car..

Here is the current plan...

S5 body conversion bumpers, trim, tails, mirrors
16" Mesh 3 peice ARE wheels
S5 Engine, with S5 turbo

So I am not staying true to the car with the engine ect, so it wouldn't be original anyways... Just wondering if the wheels/body conversion are going to ruin the car.. In my head it seems like the ultimate 10th AE.. But I have been wrong before...

IMO, i think the best thing to do if u want to sell it with an s5 engine etc is to have it running properly on that engine before u sell it cuz no one likes trying to fix other people mistakes.c

You keep buying these, but then you just get rid of them. And you seem to find alllll the good ones.

I honestly prefer to build them rather then keep them long term.. Still seeking the perfect car... Then I'll settle down..

I guess I could save the stock items and they could go with the car.. Nothing would be irreversible. I'd like to keep this one for a year or so, I have a feeling the car I want will be for sale by then.. I keep calling him and harrassing him.. But I would consider keeping this one if it turns out the way I have planned..

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just enjoy it. I say clean it up as best as possible and drive it around. I think that's what I would do.

Beautiful 10th AE! I modded mine, but tastefully. Mainly preventative maintenance items, but really if you want to sell it just don't spend too much money on it and you should be fine.

Sounds like a good plan except the s5 exterior conversion, that's kinda like painting a10ae black, or swapping to an s5 cluster.

IF I can find a perfect s4 front bumper to replace mine I will keep it s4 exterior.. But they aren't easy to come by.

The S5 bumpers aren't getting easier to find either. But an s5 exterior isn't so bad. Just mirrors, bumper, and lights.

If you paint it to match then its fine... exterior cf on a 10AE is kinda tacky

the guy who bought my coupe is putting a s5 bumper on, the s4 that is on there is the old bumper from my convertible, he might be selling it but he is in canada

HOWEVER- you can still get brand new primed aftermarket front bumpers for the S4, and they are pretty damm cheap- I would go that route. You can get these for about $100, if you have a buddy in a autobody shop they can get it for you

Don't bother with CF hood. You could repaint the stocker cheaper and you barely save weight regardless. Since you'd paint it white, it's even more useless.

Mine has some hail pocks on it.. That is the only reason for the swap out of the hood.

Ok I read 3 sentences in your first post and skipped straight here to write a reply.

Why the F would you get a 10AE then convert it to s5? Why not just start with your average run of the mill s4 turbo and go from there?

It's what I have...ha!.. Why is the sky blue? How does an Posi rear end work? Why are ***** good?

Honestly, I have been battling the idea.. I am leaning towards the s4 front bumper replacement.. But I'm just not sure..
