Talking '87 tII finally running (pics and video)

well today after frying a set of injectors, having leaky injectors, and putting in a new starter i got it started. been working on the swap for about the last week. its a s4 jdm motor, stock turbo with ported wg, 550/680 injectors, greddy E-01 boost controller, dp and hks exhaust ect...

just need to adjust the timing, tps and bac in the morning.

i am quite pleased, it has awesome compression and it was out of an auto so i know it wasnt beat on. it is overheating a little right now, nothing major but i have flush the cooling system about 4 times and it still looks like it is draining out choc milk so i am pretty sure that is why it is running hot. but it was a full long block with turbo and all and i would say the condition of all the parts and motor was about 9 out of 10. i got it from robert at rotaryshack.

Just because its from a auto doesn't mean it hasnt been beat on. Rx-7 auto transmissions aren't that great, its easy for the trans to start slipping making the engine rev higher when unnecessary.

Great looking car. I forgot who I got my JDM engine/tranny through, but I could have had my old engine rebuilt. I know there are some great builders out there...many on this site...try kevin http://rotaryresurrection.com/2ndgen/engine_prices.html he has great prices and I have heard nothing but great things. Plus you get a warrenty. I dont know how much shipping would be though. I think in all my engine/tranny was $1800 shipped. My engine runs great but it might just be a fluke. Also, if your engine is running hot eff, you may want to figure something else out besides a flush...maybe t-stat, your fan shroud, fan, etc. Any you shouldnt have to adjust your timing....what are you running your injectors with?

stock ecu is running injectors, and i will be going to autozone in the morning to get a new t stat and i am going to flush the radiator better tomorrow also and hopefully that helps, it is pushing alot of coolant into the overflow but im not sure if it is from getting to hot or something worse. but we will see soon.

Is there anything worse than getting too hot? Im not sure if you can run 680s on a stock ecu.

good point haha, it is fixed now with a new cap and t stat and a good system flush

and yes you can run 680's on stock ecu, it gets just a little rich on the 3800 transition but thats all.
