87 FC worth the $600?
So im just got done looking at a 87 Rx7 (unknown model? but has sun roof, no p/s and manual windows.) with 118k miles. Has no surface rust that i could see and 3 nickel size or less dents. The guy was messing around with the radio and the gauges now stopped displaying. (could be a ground from what i read on rx7club). Cracked windshield, lowered on springs and aftermarket shocks, no front bumper or spoiler. For a price of $600. Maybe he will take $500.
Car started with some trouble since it hasnt been started for a few months. It blew a lot of smoke at first, i suppose the oil is being burnt. Didnt see the champagne bubbles through the radiator cap. Sound like a good deal? Dont know if i will track it, maybe just a small project DD. Since FCs are uncommon in my area its an interesting car. Any suggestions or wisdom is appreciated.

****, after sitting for a winter the car smoked like a ****. Someone thought my parents house was on fire.
Buy it. If it ends up being junk, part it out and make more than double your money back.

BTW its Satin Gold Metallic. Not the best looking color for it to be "modern" but i guess it will do.
The guy also said it had a squishy clutch? Didnt road test the car since it had a flat tire.

Id say $400 is good enough? His situation is this: he bougth a 2G eclipse and needs a motor for it. Doesnt have time for the 7 and needs the garage space.

If this is a non-LSD 4-lug car, $400 seems about the max you should spend. I just would like one of the people in this thread who says you could part it out and double your money to tell me what parts they think would be valuable on this car. Like me, the OP is in Wisconsin where there isn't really much of an RX-7 community. Any parts being sold will likely have to be shipped, cutting into profits. Nobody wants to come up North to pick up parts. Don't think just because this car seems cheap that it's actually a good deal. I mean ****, I got my 88 vert with a poorly running engine, 4 new uninstalled tires, and a borla catback for $500, and if it hadn't been a drop top, I probably would have passed that up too.... Just my opinion though.

As long as it runs and the body isn't in bad shape I don't see how 400 is a bad deal. Course I haven't seen it so who knows. 4 lug isn't bad, but five lug is better, wont have lsd either. Aftermarket shocks and springs are more than 400 themselves if you wanted to buy new that is.
