87 FC Build **This may take awhile**
Hi Guys and Gals thought I would post a build thread on my 87 non turbo. This vehicle is going to make a major transformation over the next year or so. I will try and keep the photos up to date. Just a little background on this car is that I found it on craigslist for $800 I only paid $600 for it and thats still too much but its more about learing and the adventure for me. The car had been sitting in the guys garage for 12 years he said one day it just didnt want to start so he let it sit and bought something else. I plan to set the vehicle up for Drift & SCCA events. In the photos posted below i already started demo of the vehicle and have a full turbo drivetrain ordered for the car just waiting for it to come in. Keep wathing the post as I will be updating the photos.

Windshield Removal:
Glass In the vehicle with the left and right surroungs unbolted:

Close up on the drivers side with thebolt on moldings removed

Used a smaller flat head screw driver and a hammer to remove the upper molding.

Once the upper molding was removed I used a high end ravor blade in a handle with a loop on it to cut all the remaining glue that was present. I then cut into the glue that was between the windshield and the body. I later went back with a body pin removal tool that looks like a screw driver with forked end on a 45 deg angle and worked it under the glass to seperate the pieces. I had to be careful because the glass already had chip/seperation from the previous owner.

Added tape the glass just incase it broke hopefully it would stay together.

And shes out!! (PS this took about 2 hours only because this is the first windshield ive ever removed)

No short cuts here ive built plenty of cars and this one is going to be built the right way the first time I dont want to have to go back later and do things over again. The cage will be painted with the car.
Ive never built a cage but I have never seen one where they remove the windshield. Could you go more in to detail since I'd like to make one but do it right the first time as well.
Also, wow, I forgot how cluttered the stock engine bay is haha.

Im a neat freak and if stuff is laying everywhere its hard for me to work so I bought a bunch of bins labeled them and will be selling all the take off stuff that I wont need. As for me taking awhile on the car i am moving quick with the dissassembly. The main thing is just to stay focused and every night when I come home I have to take time to remove or take apart something instead of sitting on the couch watching some stupid reality show or horrible american top gear.
Talk about a tear down! Has to be the most extensive any of us have seen in a long while. And was that a chainsaw in the engine bay?
I like this thread. Looks like you know what you're doing. Looking forward to the rest
