Two separate problems on my 1988 gtu

Problem #1
My fc wasn’t idling very well and would lean out under throttle input, I’ve replaced the filter and pump in my fuel system so what’s next on the list of suspects are the injectors, is this a correct progression or am I overlooking something? Also, I cannot hear the fuel pump priming when the car is turned on, should I be able to?

problem #2
I went to start my fc at night to move it so I turned on the lights first, however, when I turned the key, everything shut off. I thought I overloaded and blew the battery fuse using both at once, so I went to check. It was in tact. I checked the battery connection, and upon moving the cable the systems re-energized. But when I tried to start the car again (this time with the lights off) the same thing happened. Doing the same thing as last time, I tried to turn on only the running lights, and it tripped off again. What’s going on? Has anyone seen this before?
thanks guys!

problem #2 was stupid simple, positive terminal was attached loose and wasn't forming a proper connection.
I must've been too tired to think of that.

Check the fuel pump by jumping the yellow connector and switching on the ignition to position two (don't start the car)

Or you can press the MAF meter vane with the switch in position 2 . . .assuming you remove the air filter and can get in there. . with the air box off you can push the vane with your finger.

You should hear the pump turn on under both these conditions. . . . Easier to hear the pump when the car is not running.

Easy thing to change is the water temp sensor behind the alternator on the back of the water plate.. . It's cheap.

Make sure the plugs are good.

Plug the double throttle valve vacuum line. . . .Check/change all vacuum tubing to silicon if not done already.. . . Blank off the EGR valve.

Measure the resistance of thee BACV

if all these things are good. . . I'd start suspecting bad MAF meter or primary injectors.

Here's your bible. . . http://www.foxed.ca/rx7manual/manual...SYSTEMS_NA.pdf
