Testing Spark with engine/transmission removed?
Testing Spark with engine/transmission removed?
Been having spark issues and couldn't track it down, but my engine has low compression so I pulled it out and I'm waiting to order parts for the rebuild but I was wondering what I can do to test for spark while I have the engine removed? I have 2 other threads detailing more about my situation but to keep it brief, I have an s4 t2 engine with the s4 Intake manifolds, TPS, omp, and throttle body, in (pulled out now) a s5 t2 chassis. I can't get any spark and I am fairly certain the CAS wiring is different between an s4 and an s5 as far as the harness going to the ecu pins so I am wanting to try and take out the CAS from the engine, plug it into the harness which I'll plug into the ECU (s5 harness and s5 ecu) and then spin it by hand and try to get spark from a sparkplug grounded on the fender. Would this work? Is there any particular way to test the CAS by hand or just put the key to on and give it a spin?
EDIT: here are the links to my 2 other threads for more detail in case anyone is interested:
