S5 Replacement Gates Air pump belt too long

Hey guys, its been a while since I posted on here - I haven't had much time to think about the RX7 after having two kids but I'm trying to get her back on the road again. I felt lucky to keep her this long. My girl has been asking about getting rid of it since it has been sitting there.

All she needed when I stopped driving here was the v belts. The alt belt snapped and thru all the idiot lights on. For the longest time I was afraid to fix it because I was concerned it might be a computer/electrical problem, although I kept the battery topped off and started her every so often. Anyways now I know better. I ordered all new belts for the car and tried to install them yesterday...

My issue - the Air Pump belt is way too long even with the air pump pushed all the way down on the tension adjuster
I ordered the following parts from amazon after referencing this parts catalog (I have an '89 RX7 Turbo II w/ Denso A/C)- https://mfr.activant.com/alliance/servlet
Gates 9420 (Power Steering)
Gates 9385 (A/C w/ Denso Pump)
Gates 7385 (Air Pump w/ Turbo
Gates 7320 (Alternator)

I figured I'd go with Gates after seeing the price on the Gatorback has gone up some and availability seems much more limited than it was when I use to buy the Goodyears.

The Gates belt is way too long! I have the Air pump pushed all the way down on the adjustment and its way too lose to run the accessory. It wouldn't even register on the Krikit gauge.

The existing belt I have on the car is a Dayco Top Cog 15375 part (print is still readable on the back of the belt) which according to the specifications on Advance Auto Parts web site has an effective length of 37.50" with an OD of 38.07". The existing belt also still has what I guess is a cross reference part number on it - 11A0980 - the Gates 7385 belt has this same part number. The package for the Gates 7385 belt says 13/32" x 39-1/8" which just can't be the right size since my old Dayco part with the same 11A0980 number on it still spins the air pump. So I took a string and measured the OD of the old Dayco 15375 belt and the new Gates 7385 belts. The Dayco measured a little over 37.5" and the Gates at over 39".

I called Gates corporate at 303.744.4432 and Chris over there said I have the "correct" part for my car. He said that the "385" in the Gates 7385 part number is the band or effective length in inches (38.5"). He also said that the "980" in the "11A0980" is the length in millimeters which is about 38.58".

Anyways Chris suggested that I buy a Gates 7370 (1.5" shorter than the 7385) or 7365 (2" shorter). I noticed on that parts lookup catalog I mentioned above that the 7355 (35.5") is for non-turbo RX7 - I'm wondering if I should go with that part so I at least use a part that comes up for my car instead of a one off - the adjustment on the air pump is pretty broad it looks like.

What part/length belt are you guys running on your air pumps in your S5s?

It would be really great if someone could get me the longer part number off their turbo S5 air pump belt. Would like to know if it matches my existing one - 11A0980

Mazda shows one part number for both, N370-13-813A its going to be a Bando belt, the parts catalog doesn't list a size but it looks like its a 9.5x965

Do you have an under-drive pulley? That will change the size you need. Maybe put the pump where you want it and use a string to measure the size belt you need. go to the auto-zone or whatever you have and find a belt that size. If it works you can change to a better quality belt when you need it or feel like doing it.
