Parts Shop Max rear caliper upgrade

Has anyone used the PBM Z32 hydro handbrake bracket and calipers as just their normal foot brakes? I know this may sound odd but I'm getting tired of the FC rear caliper headache unless someone can point me in the right direction for rebuild kits that INCLUDE the pistons or where i can get the piston.

As far as i can tell i would only lose handbrake functionality which is not a big deal for me, but I'd like to know how much would this affect my actual drivability and if the stock brake booster system would have any issues operating these brakes.

I know heintz makes a kit for dual calipers for a separate brake and hydro brake setup which, however they are out of stock as of right now and brakes are the only thing I need to get my car driving again.

I will probably open my rear calipers tonight to see how bad they are, but want to get this post out there to see what everyone's thoughts are. Even if my calipers don't need new pistons, I will probably still consider this as an option as a way of future proofing because right now the only rebuild kit with a piston i can find does not ship to the states and I'm sure this issue is only going to continue to get worse for us FC people.

If anyone has any recommendations for alternatives I'm all ears as well. It seems like these rear calipers are a huge struggle for us now.

you can buy the pistons separately. that being said, changing to a caliper you can actually buy seems like a step in the right direction.

This dates back to 2020, but at that time I was able to source full FC rear caliper rebuild parts from Mazda, via Ray Crowe. Unless the core caliper & pistons are trashed, the rebuild option might be worth revisiting before trying to re-engineer your rear brakes. This place can rebuild your calipers. It's quick and cheap.
