I'm talking about these

What are they called, and how exactly are they supposed to be placed??? It's odd to me that the windows just stop right at those clips, and because it leaves a gap when the windows are fully up

It's called a door glass guide or a door channel guide. There is a listing for them for sale on yahoo auctions that just says it helps to settle the glass into the channel where it belongs... I think that means it probably helps reduce glass flutter or shimmy while driving

Interesting. I'm able to just take it off and the window rolls up into the channel fine. Didn't give any type of shimmy or flutter when on the freeway. Also just doesn't look right when I face the clip outwards. Water gets in when the clips are on, window doesn't completely roll up and all. It's just odd to me.

After looking at your pictures yours isn't installed correctly. I thing it goes in first before the channel gasket. It also seems to double to hold the upper window rain seal on. Here's a picture of mine it should be pretty flush and streamlined

Ohh I see! I was wondering how exactly it went in. I tried swapping each side, putting them in different directions etc. I'll have to try that later! Will report back.

Is this what you're talking about?

I think they're on there right, now. They're pretty secure and snug. Windows roll all the way up

So to answer your original question I think it's clear these clips help hold the channel gasket for the window channel, while doubling as a clip for the upper rain seal

Plus since it's shaped like a wing it generates down force and gives you better traction 😂
