Difference between Atkins oring kit and oem?
Having the motor in the RX-7 rebuilt (S5 Turbo.) I called mazda, and they have a different part number between the O ring kits for non turbo and turbo. Atkins kit says it fits both non turbo and turbo. They also told me the only difference between the kits that mazda offers is that on the Turbo II motors, there are a few o rings that fit between the lower intake manifold and the engine itself. They said it would not be an issue not using these.
Can anyone speak for Atkins quality in terms of their oring kit? Normally I'd go with mazda OEM..because those o rings have to be there for a reason right? But they are on a 2-4 week backorder out of Japan right now.
So Atkins says their kit will work on Na and Turbo motors, but the turbo engine o ring kit mazda sells has those o rings on the lower intake manifold where it bolts to the block, but it wont be an issue not having them....can anyone speak from experience to this and/or the quality of the atkins oring kit vs oem?

That's what I was figuring...why would they sell those kits though advertising them as compatible with both Turbo and NA when turbo motors have those orings that fit between the manifold and lower block that their kit doesn't have?
i don't know what kit you're referring to, back when i ordered kits from them there was an n/a kit and a turbo kit. the turbo lower intake gasket will not work with the non turbo and vice versa anyways, so why would they not include the o-rings? atkins sells generic lower intake to block o-rings anyways, not just OEM ones.

It says fits turbo and non turbo..but going back to what Atkins told me, the turbo motors have those o rings where the lower intake manifold bolts to the block..which I'm pretty sure he said that kit doesn't have, but it says it fits turbo and non turbo, and that I'll be fine without it...that's why I'm a bit concerned, not trying to cheap on an engine build. Mazda is on a huge backorder on the oring kit for the turbo motor (four to six weeks easily from what they told me.) So I'm trying to make sure I get the right kit. Gaskets are a non issue, already have those.
Edit: If you start navigating from their website fresh, the same kit, ARE116, shows up under both NA and Turbo rebuild kits. They do, however, also have an ARE316 that uses an apparently upgraded coolant seal..for the same price as the ARE116 kit. I mean, Atkins builds quite a bit of motors, so If they say it fits I'd hope its an entire correct fit.

that's a short block seal kit, which will work as they described. the lower intake gaskets and o-rings are in separate kits or can be ordered individually.
what you may want is a master gasket kit, the turbo one is dramatically more expensive due to the exhaust gaskets for the turbo engine. if you don't need the exhaust gaskets, you can order the intake gaskets seperately, as well as the OMP o-ring, turbo oil tube gaskets, coolant gallery gaskets, etc. the copper crush washers are generally reusable.
