MS Cruise Control Help

Trying to fix an inoperative cruise control. Have checked fuses and connections to the switch. Main light would not light up when button is pushed but cruise switch will light up when set is pressed on highway. . Pulled original switch and found both mounting tabs broken. Full 12 volts coming into switch. Have bought 2 used switches as I could not find a new one anywhere,. First used switch came from salvage yard.with both tabs broken.. Plugged it in anyway. After multiple times pushing main button the light came on for a short period of time then wouldn't come back on. Bought another one which appears in great shape with no damage but still the same problem. Main light will not come on and cruise will not engage. Owner's manual really doesn't tell you much about operational of switch other than what each does. I don't have a wiring schematic to run down wires. Still full voltage coming into switch on one terminal and partial voltage on two other terminals in plug.

Any ideas? TIA.

First thing I would check is the actual Cruise Control Cable (connected to the throttle body).

I replaced parts because mine did not work when I bought it (89 vert) and I checked the cable and it fell off the bracket/holder thingy on the throttle body and once I looped it back on it works fine. Simplest thing to check.

I checked the cable and it is fine. I am puzzled why the "main" light does not come on. This is 2nd switch I have tried.

The light won't come on unless the CC is functioning.

Mine wouldn't light up before I fixed the cable. I think it senses if it's working or not. Maybe someone who has more knowledge could chime in.

Managed to get cruise to work but main light still does not light up. Changed switch out and now have power going to actuator but no vacuum. Switched vacuum hose to another location that had vacuum and it started to working. Original vacuum hose went to one of two vacuum ports just above the split air solenoid valve. Not sure if port is supposed to have vacuum at idle or not. I am not sure if vacuum hoses are routed correctly or not. Wish I could get someone to verify this for me.
