Which is the best year for a 2 gen RX7?
Hello! Ive been looking around the Internet and really haven't found a good answer. What year would you say is a good year to look at buying for a 2 gen? I would plan at some point to lower it and make it into a show car. Something along the lines of the pictures. Ive heard 88's are good and 91's are good. Thoughts?

Buy what you like. I think it's more important to start with something in good shape as opposed to going after a particular model year. You might wish to stay with Series 4 (1986-88) or Series 5 (1989-91), but the particular model year isn't as important.
And if you want a turbo, buy a turbo. Yes, you can drivetrain swap an N/A to end up with a turbocharged car, but it's easier to just start with what you want.
Read the FAQ in the main second gen section to get a good idea on what you may be after.

For me it is an 86 or 87 as they do not need any emissions testing up here in ONT Canada.
I prefer S4's as I don't like the S5 OMP and some of the problems that arise from it.I like the subtle body differences but the mechanics?..No.They should have left a good thing alone..(like the ball joints and sway links.)
