best transmission for automatic upgrade?

I'm tired of my transmission going out and looking everywhere for one so I'm wondering what's the best automatic transmission upgrade for my s5 rx7? maybe c4?

before anyone say anything about swapping it to a manual, I'm a paraplegic and I can't drive stick, wish I can but i can't. so I'm looking for something so my transmission didn't go out often.

They come with Jatco gearboxes.. .Just get it rebuilt and strengthened and modified? It will cost you way more to go something like a C4.

If you are going to be keep under the 600hp those boxes are great, anything over then upgrade to a C4

I was thinking about that but then if it ever goes out again it'll cost alot to get it rebuild. I can find c4 transmission everywhere

not if its been strengthened to handle.

C4 you need to think about converter, flex plate, bell housing, starter motor, C4 mount, tailshaft, trans cooler, trans cooler lines - any modifications to your exhaust to fit - its not a cheap exercise and not worth it if you are under 600hp.

you are looking at a min 12k USD to do.

Have you thought about getting an automatic tranny from a JDM turbo car? They are a lot stronger than the auto ones on NA cars here.

The bell housing bolt pattern for all rotary engine are the same. The only thing you will have to have made is the drive shaft, since your car has a NA differential. The transmission mounting points on the underside of your car are the same. As for the ECU I am not sure, but I would think that yours would work.

I went to a shop of a friend that imports RX7 cars and half cuts from Japan. I compared a domestic auto drive shaft with a JDM, they are the same length. So you can use your drive shaft. And he just sold his last turbo auto tranny. I guess other people are doing that conversion. What I could find about the ECU is that yours it will work fine with the turbo tranny.
So it looks like to do this you would need the tranny, torque converter and just to be sure the flex plate.
Also another idea that I ran across is the tranny from a 20B. That engine produces more horse power and torque than a turbo 13B. Plus it is in a bigger car. Logic would say that tranny would be the strongest rotary auto tranny.
