87 vs 87.5 to 88 TII differential differences

I snapped the stub shaft in my 87 TII differential yesterday and realized when looking for a new one that they apparently had some differences in these years. The stub shaft is clearly different and the axles that go with them are different. Anyone know why mazda did this? Is one stronger?

Hi Styx. I don't get on here that often anymore. I think I saw you went V8 somewhere. You may want to hold on to your extras!

I belive mine to be the early 87 version rather than the shorter one. Let me know if you have one you are willing to part with for a descent price. Or of you want to trade something ( instead of me selling you an rtek and buying a megasquirt like last time)

Hey Will..just getting back to this now while browsing threads..again..haha.
Either give me a Text Number by Pm or LMK by PM to remind me...It's funny that Ya,I did go V8 but the V8 stuff is what is giving me more problems!..the Rotary stuff is FINE!
