Hi all, I’m not entirely sure if I’m doing this right but I just need some help. I have very beginner skills when it comes to working on cars. I have a 1988 RX-7 NA convertible. It is a 5 lug, not sure if that matters. Today I replaced the catalytic converter with a new one, as well as installed a factory air box back into the car because the previous owner had put on a cheap one that was just taking in hot air. After doing so the car will only crank but not start. So far I have checked the EGI comp, engine injector, and interior engine fuses, as well as cranked the car with them pulled out and then put back in. Not exactly sure what I should do, any help would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if I need to provide more details.
Since you touched the air box, check the Air Flow Meter (AFM) that is bolted onto the air box. Verify that the electrical connector to the AFM is plugged in and wires are not broken/torn.
If you are not aware... factory service manuals are available online. Just search 'rx7 fc fsm' in google. It will show you the AFM info in section 4 Fuel & Emission Control Systems.
