Question What parts are not shared between a 13B and a 20B?

Logically, my brain tells me that only the E-shaft and oil pan HAVE to be that different. I have a bunch of 13B engines sitting around, and I was wondering if I just bought/fabricated a 20B E-shaft if I could fabricate one? Of course, tapping new holes for the engine mounts and such.

I read about that custom fabricated 4 rotor and thought of this.

This question only refers to the 'short block' or 'keg.' Everything else can be fabricated.

I could not find adiquate information on this by searching.

A custom e-shaft will run you nearly 2k. At that price you might as well just buy a 20b core and save all the hastle. Then you could use all the other parts as replacement parts for future rebuilds.

Then again why not just try to fab your own 4 rotor with all your spare parts? Thats what I would try to do.

Well, I'm wondering more alone the lines of the feasability of just buying the e-shaft/oil pan, or something like that.

You'll need the 80mm center plate if your using a 20b e-shaft.

Not to be sarcastic, but it's obvious that You guys have never taken a 20b apart.
Financially, You will be miles ahead buying a 20b core and proceding from that.
Feasability ? any thing is possible. Cost effective ? Don't think so.
As T-von stated, why not go all the way, if money is not an issue, but it seems that's not the case. To this end, what other compatible pieces do You have ? Do You know ?
Good luck !

You are correct, I have never taken apart a 20B.

I have many, many good 13B core engines, however, and the ability and tools to fabricate manifolds and mounts and such.

Money IS an issue, so if I can get away with only buying, for example, just a center plate and an e-shaft and the tensioner bolts, (plus a full rebiuld kit, of course) I would be quite happy

But it is looking more and more like I'll have to bite the bullet and just get a full 20B to dissasemble, and maybe just replace housings and such from the cores I have (as needed).

Thanks for the information. I will have to read up on the differences in the 80mm centerplate

I've haven't taken mine apart yet but, I think you will also need the 20b's front plate as it may have bolt holes for the front tension bolts. I don't think it's like the 13b front plate which has threaded holes.

I still say make the 4 rotor instead.
