I think it's around 160mm or so. My friend held a dollar bill between one of the pullies and the rad to let you all get an idea of how much room there is. Hmm, a dollar is about 156mm and there was still space on either side of it. If the front cover style mount can be converted to side mounts and the oil pick-up tube's mini sump won't interfere with the centerlink and/or swaybar, then a 20B can fit in my friend's B2000! Heh, a B2000 with a 20B in it... that has a nice ring to it.
i would do a 13b myself, but ivan is crazy. me measured my 20b and his old truck and its really tight, but it should fit. how hard is it to put a 13b in one of those? does it bolt in, or do you need the same kind of brackets you would for a 20b fc?

I didn't do the work, nor did my friend. He just bought it like that from a local Mazda mechanic. I'd really like to get those pics developed soon so I too can sit and stare at them. It uses front mounts like '85 and older engines.

The 13B is based on the '74-'78 type. It probably has 1st gen side housings and stuff.

Does your Triumph engine have DOHC? I'm sure that would make the head totaly huge.

That pic came from a roll of film that also has a couple shots of a 20B with a 10A sitting near it. I've got to mess with the pics so they'll work on my webpage first (going from tif to jpeg and resizing etc). Then upload 'em. I scanned the negatives because it gives way better quality. Infact, I can zoom in on the dollar bill without too much quality loss because the pics are originally 3711x2457 or so.

I'd like to get another look under the B2000's hood now that I am more familier with the oil pan of a 20B. I hope the front mini sump will clear the crossmember and centerlink. Hopefully the swaybar too.

Oops, double post. Might as well not waste it by mentioning that I also took a few shots of my MG with a 13B in it. It's just a bunch of housings that I threw together, but it lets you see how large the engine is in the bay.

Wow, that looks huge in there. But then again, the engine in mine is missing pretty much everything (even the front main pulley). Savy veiwers will notice something incredibly wrong with it. Try to figure it out.

the rear rotor housing is 86+ while the rest of the motor is 80 or older?

You are correct! The cast irons are from an '85 12A, and the front rotor housing is probably from '76-78 or something. I just slapped 'em together with a couple tension bolts and an REPU oil pan on the bottom and lowered it into the engine bay. It went in way easier than when I installed my REPU's engine in it. Heh, no pressure plate or intake manifold to get in the way.

its kind of a joke, everytime i give someone a motor to build/ port it takes 5 years. so i get the 12a back in about 2 years, thats 2005, then i actually have to work on it. i predict it has a chance of running before the end of the decade, either that or i'll trade it back fo my nsu spyider....

That's ok. I got my MG Midget in '96 and got it running with my REPU's engine in '00. I think I'll rebuild the old RX-2 12A for it because it's already been streetported. I'll be trying my luck with '85 rotors so we'll see. I predict this will be my winter project. I guess it's going to take me six or seven years to finally get its original rotary conversion engine running again. Hurray for the long term projects!
