Transmission

Need some advice on what transmission to use. My 20b is tuned to 715whp and 610 ft lb and i need a transmission that can be shifted without clutching. I have had the car up much further up past 800 hp but i am not planning on doing this again. Hoping that someone finds a t56 dog gear conversion kit or something similar. The car has a t56 on it now. Very phew tranmission can handle the power and im trying to stay under 9000 dollars. Thanks.

Ive heard t56s have trouble shifting at real high rpm. What does the 20b rev to? Why not just build the t56 if the redline isnt the issue?

your gonna be looking at a Gforce, g101 or gf5r or a liberty trans, http://gforcetransmissions.com http://www.libertysgears.com/

best is to head to the drag racing section, you may find more leads there

Bacon is right, but be aware that all of the clutchless shift trans options are not very streetable. I know you're car very well, and that car is too clean to make a drag race only car... many of the clutchless shift trannys from g force and liberty do not allow downshifting either.

your car uses the same Adapter plate and bellhousing that I use on my T56 conversion. My T56 is built by G force, but is not a clutchless, it has upgraded gears, shafts, and modified syncros. the trans shifts at 9300RPM with me, but does have some trouble powershifting above 8500. it's probably your best option for strength and still keeping the car streetable.

so.. when you bought the car from Carlo, he sold you the screen name too?

you mean not streetable- period. Not "very streetable"
Cannot be driven on the street at all

Im going to throw a Rockland Tranzilla/ Magnum into the mix, but whatever you do decide pay close attention to the gear ratios as it seems alot of them are really not set up that great.

Welcome to the forum! glad to see you on here.

before i did the T-56 conversation i did a lot of research and the main problem is that the Sequential gear box that are available are rate to 600-700 tq and are over 10k+ for the transmission alone. that means you will be blowing 10k transmissions with the 20B at high boost levels.

ppg makes a dogbox kit http://www.ppgearbox.com.au/page.asp?categoryid=8
if you plan on using the car as a full blown race car than go for it but you going to hate it as a street car... trust me.

the T-56 that is on there is fully built with a Tick performance kit. it will handle 1000 tq no problem and i have power shifted at 8500rpm with no problem as well.

i did a lot of tracking with the car with that setup and the car was pretty much untouchable on track. you can change the gear ratios in the transmission if u want a closer gear ratio.

just enjoy the car.. pm if u have any other questions
