Requesting DIY shifter relocation (FD)

I know there are a few who've done this and I would really appreciate any info that can be shared. I'm looking to move my engine back, but don't want to upgrade to the T56 just yet. How do I move the shifter to the forward port of the stock FD tranny? And how many inches does that get me?
